WASHINGTON - Austerity in big-ticket government programs hasn't dulled lawmakers' appetite for special interest spending items that curry favor back home.

Among items in the package: $335,000 to protect North Dakota's sunflowers from blackbirds, $2.3 million for an animal waste management research lab in Bowling Green, Ky., $50,000 to control wild hogs in Missouri, and $443,000 to develop salmon-fortified baby food.

Ohio Reps. Stephanie Tubbs Jones, a Democrat, and Steven LaTourette, a Republican, boasted about $350,000 for music education programs at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland.


And we all have heard about the $10 mil artificial rainforest in Iowa...

Even as democrats, I think a lot of this spending doesn't go towards OUR priorities like education or toxic cleanups.

Bitch about the blue states, then use all the revenue they produce (since blue states do provide for the country, since a mut-hut in Kansas and a trailer park in Alabama produces about 1/10000000000000000 the tax revenue than the financial institutions and industrial areas of Chicago, Los Angeles and New York) and give it to the states who agree with our extreme, anti-American right wing agenda.

2008. We need a candidate who won't put on a nice campaign. Sling the mud, lower yourselves to their level and give these neo-cons exact what they produce, except we have reality on our side.

I am tired of it. Pork, upon pork. They bitched when the Democrats did that, and these Repuglians are doing it worse.

At least gay can't marry, which apparently is the issue that means more than anything. I hate this crap. And I am in double pain. I live in a BLUE county in a Red state.
