3. How many days would this entail?
If you are fortunate to have a job, it would be necessary to know if there are arrangements for bus transportation. Anything leaving Kansas City?

7. WHile it is cool for our candidates to attend these
Edited on Thu Sep-04-03 10:58 AM by BayCityProgressive
I CAN see why some of the candidates don't want to show. International ANSWER is fronted by the Revolutionary Communist Party of the USA. I don't care about this but you know the mass media would bring it up. ACLU, NOW, and NAACP were founded by communists as well. so is Refuse and Resist, Not in Our Name, and Pastors For Peace. You can look them all up.

9. Yes they did.

When Kucinich was helping the striking steelworkers in Ohio the Communist Party USA had a very commanding presense. I don't think he is ashamed to work with others but most of the candidates would go out of their way to avoid controversy.

11. no it isn't..

ANSWER is an umbrella outfit of many, many groups, the RCP is not one of them (I think the one they're involved in is the Not In Our Name). The one that selectively gets the attention with ANSWER is a few WWP people involved in it, but talk to 95% of ANSWER people and I doubt any of them would have a clue who Sam Marcy was. Of course, the well-trained red-baiters who made their careers off lying about the cold war (and anything else, for that matter) focus exclusively on them.

13. Most members ar ento members of WWP I agree
But many fo the founders and coordinators are. There is nothing wrong with this, some people just go spastic about it. Last I checked we had political freedom.

19. fuck the media..if 100,000 people show up, you can't dismiss the organizer
There are questionable organizations in every facet of society (most of them tied to Democrats and Republicans) but you can't ignore the sentiments of a LARGE group of Americans

12. I marched in DC twice before the Invasion and Occupation
and dont get me wrong..I bow to the hard work that ANSWER does to get these marches going...good for them...ON the Other Hand...
a suggestion for the ANSWER folks:

PUHLEASE keep the yelling , screaming, 'BROTHERS AND SISTERS BLAH BLAH BLAH" rhetoric down a bit...the Free Mumia crowd does not compute real well with the US public..stick to the Bring the Troops Home Now issues as much as possible, and try to refrain from extreme rhetorical BS...
Have the Vets for Peace speak....put the Military Families against the War on....get some middle class families on who have lost their jobs...
Just a suggestion...

15. Hell yes...there are many of them against the Occupation of Iraq
and furious with the fact that Bush invaded Iraq, which had nothing to do with 9/11....wasting taxpayer dollars for PNAC, and cutting off funds from Homeland Security...Not to mention the Bush admin using the dead from 9/11 as a catalyst to push his lying policies...

damn right the families who lost loved ones on 9/11 should speak...Bush admin fucked them all and still uses them for his propoganda...he pisses on the graves of the 9/11 dead everytime he does.

21. Who knows? Maybe one or two of them will speak. . .
Although there is no commitment yet, the organization September 11 Families for Peaceful Tomorrows just might come.

You can visit their website at: www.peacefultomorrows.org

They've just put out a book which you can get at a Borders bookstore near you. Or check out the other sources listed on their website.

They're well worth your support.

I had taken off days earlier in the week and maybe I'll be able to jiggle it a bit.

Anyone in the DC area running a hostel that weekend? :D

Have one couch and plenty of floor space for out-of-towners who need someplace to sleep.
