Are the Repubs going to win the redistricting fight? What's the buzz? Tell me what's a-happening.

1. I sure as hell hope not
but it looks like they could now. Perry is trying to act like he isn't
salivating at the prospect but he is. One of his fellow repuke senators is fly fishing in Minnesota so he has to delay calling the special session yet. Midland - Odessa doesn't want it either but I doubt a repuke senator would join the Dems. The Dems still have a lawsuit pending because there were no extroardinary circumstances to call a special session. It might be our last hope.

Are there other Dems who could slip out of town
to take his place in the protest?

9. There is one other Dem Senator
but she stayed when the other departed for NM. I don't think she is much for leaving.

I guess the House Dems could flee.

15. i just asked a friend of mine about this
he used to work at the leg

anyway he said the redistricting passed by the house in
the last special session died with that session
so the house would have to pass it again

7. being influen$ed to come back
still shows that he lacks a backbone. But it also shows that the Texas Republicans have absolutely no morals whatsoever that they would resort to outright bribery.

10. We knew that already
If you can't legally pass something 3 times and have to change the rules for a special session, you aint shit. And they're not.

6. Long story short
One of the Texas 11 (Dem senators in New Mexico) decided to come back to Texas last night. The Senator in question is John Whitmire of Houston. It also seems Whitmire has been in secrate negotations with a Republican Senator Florence Shapiro from Plano (North Dallas). No one knows for sure what they talked about, but he did not tell the other 10 that he was talking with her.

He was to meet with some Repubs in Austin today.

With him back in state, Gov. Perry could call another special session and get quorum. This would be a win for the repugs.

11. Since the Senate never voted on the legislation in the last special sessio
Doesn't the House have to pass it yet again before it goes to the Senate, yet again?

If so, the House Democrats could leave again and bust the quorum for a Special Session, yet again.

12. Whitmire named as possible co-conspirator in Funeralgate
He's mentioned in the Eliza May lawsuit

http://democrats.com/images/funeralgate/resp-bushrfd.htm

Doesn't prove anything but something to think about.

13. Story here in NM (Las Cruces) said that
a few of the Texas Dems were
"ill" but they were still hanging tough. This was on Sun. or Mon., so things may be sliding downhill now....
