Bush now plans "MAJOR SPEECH" in Halifax
Edited on Fri Nov-26-04 11:56 AM by Bluebear
C'mon Haligonians, show him your love!

==
George W. Bush is expected to zip into downtown Halifax Wednesday morning to make the key speech of his visit to Canada.

Sources say the U.S. president is booking Pier 21, Canada’s Immigration Museum or the cruise ship terminal next door at Pier 22 to thank our country for its help in the aftermath of 9/11.

Pier 21 spokeswoman Maria McGowan said as many as 20 staff members from the Prime Minister’s Office scouted the museum as a possible location Wednesday, but they were also looking at other sites. By yesterday afternoon, Pier 21 had not heard it was the choice.

“It would be really good for us,” McGowan said. “Being a new attraction, and a new museum in Halifax, it will help put us on the map.”

The Prime Minster’s Office announced last week that Bush would make a two-day trip to Ottawa, his first state visit to Canada. But the White House unexpectedly revised the plan Wednesday, adding a Halifax stop.

Now, it’s said the trip to Ottawa will be a “working visit,” while Bush’s major speech will be made in Halifax.

1. A major speech for Shrub --
is one that doesn't involve pro athletes.

It's highly doubtful that anything new will come from his public bumbling.

2. Most certainly...
It will be a tired rehash of the themes of freedom and fear.

I hope some enterprising Canuck pisses on his shoes.

13. Thank you
Canada so far has been very bad at jailing its protestors in barbed wire topped fenced enclosures ironically called "free speech zones."

We are delighted you can still show this punk how much he's despised. We are arrested if we try that.

15. My placard says:
"We Don't Like You"

It's understated, polite and to the point, yet simple enough for him to understand.

6. I understand he has amnesty to visit Canada to 2005.
Edited on Fri Nov-26-04 11:59 AM by gordianot
He admitted his DUI which invokes this situation in order to visit Canada. I wonder if he has come clean on all of his convictions. Maybe there is a penalty for not admitting all of your felony convictions before entering Canada. If some enterprising Canadian would investigate this they could take him off our hands.

7. Major speech my left hind leg
Major opportunity to smirk on camera...why bother Evil Twig...you don't need the votes of Canadians.

And I'll warrant that if you did they'd be smart enough to NOT give them to you.

20. Well, it does give him the chance to say "9/11" again.
God knows those opportunities are few and far between.

25. Maybe someone finally...
...got around to telling him that a bunch of Canadians were very offended by his omitting Canada from the list of "close friends who helped out" immediately after 9/11.

I understand that his omission may well have been a political statement (i.e. regarding certain economic disputes that had only worsened under Bush's "leadership"), which pissed me off because he was using the tragedy to play politics. Fucker.

I only wish I were in Halifax so I could wear a gigantic foam hand with the middle finger instead of the index finger extended.

12. Geez, first the people of Halifax were kind enough to take in...
the Americans that were stranded on 9/11 with absolutely no acknowledgment from bush till 3 years later. Nova Scotia lost two of their own from the misnamed "friendly fire incident" with no apology from bush and now Halifax is going to have to be shut down because he wants to have an "empty" PR stunt.

I have every confidence the people of Halifax will show their 'gratitude' to the most hated man in the world!

Knowing the type of luxury which Dubya will demand as his "due", it will probably wipe out the offshore natural gas royalties for the year!

The fed should pony up for this one, methinks.
