ELSA is an international non-governmental, non-political and non-profit making student organization made up of some 25,000 law students in 180 universities in 38 countries across Europe. It was set up in 1981 to overcome divisions in Europe created by the Cold War, and to complement legal education provided by the State. Since then it has sought to unite law students in Eastern and Western Europe, providing a channel for the exchange of ideas and increased integration. Each year since 1981, ELSA has been dedicated to providing opportunities for law students and young lawyers and to assisting them to be internationally minded and professionally skilled. Our focus is on encouraging individuals to act for the good of society in order to realize our vision:
