Korean Scientists Succeed in Stem Cell Therapy
Edited on Fri Nov-26-04 01:47 PM by PatsFan2004
By Kim Tae-gyu
Staff Reporter

A team of Korean researchers claimed Thursday they had performed a miracle by enabling a patient, who could not even stand up for the last 19 years, to walk with stem cell therapy.

It would have been great if Christopher Reeve could have taken advantage of this therapy. I read that he had been told that there was little hope for old spinal injuries. Nineteen years ago sounds like an old injury.

Edit: btw, the Koreans are using umbilical cord blood stem cells, not embryonic stem cells.

1. It's good to know that science goes on
even though our country is rejecting it. The world will move foreward, with or without the United States.

3. Fortunately, our rejecting government will fund this
line of stem cell research. The Koreans are using umbilical cord stem cells for this.

2. Good for them! This is great news for the rest of the world.
We are moving back to the stone age so we can all pray we don't get sick. Now THAT'S faith-based healthcare! And it doesn't cost a dime.

4. But Laura Bush said
Stem Cell research should be stopped because we can never know if it would do any good. Based on that thinking, we should all be sitting in a cave afraid of our own shadows. Maybe we could stem cells to generate a functional brain in republicans. See, Laura, there is hope.

expert. After only a few years in the White House as it's resident biologist, she has proven that she can counsel Americans re this research and her research is impeccable.

Dr. Laura said:

"We don't even know that stem cell research will provide cures for anything — much less that it's very close" to yielding major advances"
