What % of neocons are Jews?
I would estimate over 50%.

I think the top leadership of the neocons are mostly Jewish. I'm not sure if they're all Zionists like Feith, but there seems to be a strong link between the neocon ideologue and right-wing Jews.

1. So what?
If they are Jews or not? 70% of Jews, or somewhere in that vicinity, vote Democrat, and are therefore clearly not neo-cons. The issue is not one's religion or ideology, but their political position.
Today, Evangelical Christians contribute more to the American-Israeli Defense fund than do Jews. They believe the War of the Apocalypse is imminent. Again, the problem is the political position--not their ethnicity.

4. I would say Joe Lieberman is a neocon and his a Democrat.
The neocons are in complete control of US foreign policy. To know what makes them tick, i think we need to realize that most of them have a Jewish background. I think the Holocaust plays a significant part in they're thinking. I think they hold the view that humanity is truly "evil" and that the rule of the jungle is the way of the world.

Now, we can have a world run on the rule of law or the rule of the gun. Clearly, neocons prefer the later.

Take out the puppeteers and the puppet will fall.

20. Puppeteers?
So when are you going to start mentioned the Protocols and David Irving? In reality, most American Jews oppose the war.

The U.S. is pursuing its current course because it is in the interest of American business elites that it do so. That's the primary determinant of policy, always has bee and always will be. Everything else is a footnote.

27. Lieberman is not a neo-con
that he is right of the the rest of the Democratic Party does not make him a neo-con. Neo-conservative is a specific ideology, attributed to a certain set of people. Lots of conservatives are not neo-cons.
Frankly, I find your anti-semetism repulsive.
To attack groups based on race/ ethnicity or religion rather than articulating opposition to policies is completely unacceptable.
This nation was founded on the idea--though clearly not the practice--of universal political equality. That is a goal to which we must all aspire.

16. It makes a big difference!!! Using your 70 % - it only means that
70 % may not be involved in leadershp, lobbying, ideology, think tanking, and creating and enabling U.S. policy that exists for the Sharon agenda.

THE REAL QUESTION AND STATEMENT is: what per cent OF THE TOP 10% of leaders in the U. S. right wing government, secret sub-government, and foundations that set policy are Jews?

The Sharon-Saud-'Bush' triad is a very puzzling, but self-revealing study. They are the authors of the policies millions of people are suffering under.

'Bush' = right wing cabal including PNAC and hundreds to thousands working on the policy and execution.

21. Irrelevent.
They behave the way they do because they're part of the elite, not because they are Jews. If this were not the case, then more Jews would sympathize with them.

18. mostly agree, but...
my conspiracy theory is that the neo cons are not concerned with religion as much as with hegemony/dominance. I think the policy that supports Israel is a ploy and a tool to distract from what is really going on...the re-making of the middle east and the usurping of clerical power (in a way, I think that's what's going-on with all of this degradation/bashing of the catholic priesthood). I also think the tying together of Israel policy with US policy is bad for both countries because it diverts energy by creating tension that calls for effort in "putting-out the fire". This kind of set-up puts Israel in a dangerous position because it elicits violent and passionate responses. I think it is intentional and because it endangers Israel and Israel is defined as a jewish country any reaction to Israel (or Jewish neo-cons) can be branded anti-semitism and thus further inflame the situation. Bluntly, I think Israel might be being set-up as the scape-goat so power can be slyly remapped in the middle east with less danger to the real players...who don't define themselves religiously.

what do you think?

2. Intellectuals vs. Politicians
I believe there are far more Jews among neoconservative intellectuals/writers than among those who are actually out there pushing these policies in government. Its the Dick Cheneys who are doing the real damage.

13. All neoconservatives are intellectuals.
Neoconservatism is an intellectual movement, not a political one. Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, etc. are mainstream conservatives who merely draw on the ideas of neoconservatism, a well as those of business conservatism, cultural conservatism, and libertarianism. You'll see neocons as appointees and as academics, but not as elected officials.

3. Most Jews are liberal
It is the Dominionist Christians-- fundamentalists-- who believe that Jesus will only come back once Israel is destroyed by God.

Think Pat Robertson, Oral Roberts, John Ashcroft, and their Pentecostal band of loonies.

It is hardly in the best interests of Jews or Israelis to encourage that.

The Christian fundies who claim they are "working for peace" are deliberately throwing fuel on the fire, encouraging Jews and Muslims to fight each other.

Also, most Jews are liberal. In fact, 85% of Jews are in favor of gay marriage (or at least civil unions). That's pretty darned liberal.

While the right-wing Jews *ARE* a problem (I should know, I used to work for one) they are still not *THE* problem.

Right-wing people of *ANY* religion are a pestilence, but the Jewish ones are not the primary source of our woes. It's rich people in general and their multi-national corprations, regardless of their race or religion, that cause most of our problems.

You'll note that of the handful of rich white people that have been financing the Republican Party for decades, not one of them is a Jew.

In fact, our current crop of American Talliban seem to be the Pentecostal Christians, as they have managed to install one of their own followers in The Whitehouse. You'll notice that Lieberman is conspicuously absent from the equation.

6. Most Jews are quite liberal - if by neo-con you refer to the save the rich
folks in the GOP, I'd say near zero percent - as Christian fundies and those with little or no religion seem to be the vast majority.

If you say neo-con refers the mid-east policy, I'd grant grant you a higher than population percentage representation - perhaps between 10 and 20% of the mid-east neo-cons based on mid-east policies are Jewish - meaning 80% are Fundies or just oil folks looking out for their corporations.

Your post sounds a bit antisemitic. I'm not sure if that was your intention, but you might want to be more careful in the future.

But yes, most neoconservatives are Jewish. There's a smaller Catholic contingent clustered around the journal First Things. And by definition (of neoconservatism, not of Jewry or Judaism), they are all hardline Zionists.

It's pretty well established that being 'anti-american' is really anti-establishment, anti-Bushole. The powers that be want to twist it into something other than it is. Same goes for this hot potato - wake the flock up, this has got nothing to do with antisemitism.

12. This is important for what reason?
So what if 50% are Jews, guess what that would make the REMAINING 50% NON JEWS and most likely CHRISTIANS.

So, is that proof of some nefarious CHRISTIAN plot?

The neocons are dangerous not because SOME are Jews but because their philosophy and world view of permanent war and increasing American empire are dangerous.

Oy vey!

I could care less who believes in which religion as they proceed to screw other people bloody raw for their own personal gain.

Religion is not the real problem and it's too easy to make parallels. I've even been guilty of doing the same thing regarding IT...

But it's the bloody raw screwing that is wrong, I don't give a fickle frick if they're Christian, Jewish, Klingon, or Borgified. It is wrong.

So, now the Jews are the problem? Hmmm..this sounds soooo familiar. I know I have heard this before. Where could it be? OH YES! I remember hearing about this in Hebrew school when we were thought that Jews were taking over the German government after WW1 and represented the REAL problem!

Edited on Fri Nov-26-04 03:23 PM by autorank
...or lack thereof. I've been bothered by the 'neocon' label from the start because of the associations that are made to Jews. The neocons, little shits that they are, are simply the Mandarins for their corporate patrons. How about associating all Christians with Fundamentalist Christian's and then blame Christians for the anti-science, anti life attitudes of this administration. Associating a particular faith with a particular policy is rediculous!

They took over the entertainment industry, the banking industry, the jewelry business (not surprising, 'cause it's got the word "jew" right in there.)

Now they want to take over politics. Starting with the Republican party.

Speaking as 50% Jew (100% by Hebrew law) I can say that, yes, that's what we've got planned.

They sent me a memo.

On edit. I didn't think I needed to, but just in case...
