How much time do we have before it's "too late?"
Are we in the 11th hour and just don't know it?

The media just keeps blathering on as if it's business as usual. I just saw coverage on people shopping at Macy's saying what great deals they got. Iraq just said they want to delay elections. Of course, * doesn't want this because it makes him look bad. They are talking about the worldwide fly pandemic and of course Bushco doesn't give two hoots about this. This is the first year in 20 I will not have gotten a flu shot, which is bad news as I have a chronic health condition and if I get the flu, it could be bad. I think how much easier it is to get a flu shot in Canada, or Mexico, or Germany. I read the DU post thread on how people should stay and fight, how some people are wanting to leave. I refuse to be herded up and loaded into some van for transport to some camp, because I made posts here, or because I registered as a democrat, or because I don't have children (alluding to another DU thread).

I guess my question is, where are we in the process before things get really serious (as in lists start being published and groups are targeted as dissenters), the stock market blows up, our borders get closed so no one can leave, etc. Thoughts anyone?

3. I hope to wait until at least 2006.
I want to see what happens in the mid-term elections. If the R's get a filibuster-proof majority in 2006, I will have to go. Even so, I share your concerns. I wonder if 2006 might be too late. I intend to have my $10,000 Canada fund up and running early next year just in case I need to bolt.

Check out this thread for more useful Canadian immigration info. The 7th entry in that thread contains the relevant links.

4. 11:45 at least
I'm not sure what is going to happen, but I have the feeling it will happen very soon. I am doing spiritual practices to try and be ready for whatever happens.

5. My goodness, you had me confused for a moment. I was going to say
you should have been around here this summer. I live a few blocks from the Missouri River and I thought it had already struck.

15. Oh, Ok
I will just relinquish my right (as of today) to free speech and drink some red kool-aid. On that note, I think I'll head out to the mall and do my civic duty to rack up more credit card debt to celebrate the coming festivities while millions have nothing. Understood. I don't want to be a downer or ask questions that are important to me.

18. Not at all
Please, exercise your right. I don't want to put a damper on that. I am saying that a positive outlook and framing of issues and concerns of the mass electorate to a greater height of poli-socio-theo responsibility and awareness, is a more powerful political tool.

14. Not all Arizonans can appreciate your outlook
as I one of them, but I do appreciate the sentiment behind it and don't mean to discount your experience. I don't necessarily think my message was aimed at the state level, rather what's happening to us at the national level. If you know of any protests planned for AZ, please let me know and I am there.

The three top good things about AZ, aside from the governor. 1) no snow 2) good Mexican food 3) close to border in case I need to leave (plus I speak Spanish). Having moved here from a blue state, and having been the recipient of a photo radar ticket shortly after my arrival, for approaching a crosswalk at 22 mph, when no sign was posted (which left me feeling as though I am living in gestapo land), I am having a hard time getting adjusted here.

I have avoided calling my mother, after 11/2, as when I mention we've killed 100K Iraqi civilians, her response is that Saddam killed 300K and I should just stop all this nonsense and get a job. I have a hard time talking to my family these days.

7. time is not important
as long as we keep fighting, demonstrating and boycotting, and never give up, we will finally prove fraud. the house of bandar bush will collapse under such an angry wind that it will roast the skins off these treacherous, treasonous bstrds and a new day will dawn. so forget about dropdead dates and work on getting the message out and boycotting every mfkr that put this unholy sack of sh*t in office.

11. Exactly.
How many stolen elections does it take before we decide that the US is no longer a democracy and that, given the choice, we'd prefer to live in a democratic country?

So far, I've seen 2000, 2002, and 2004. I feel I'm being quite patient by waiting until 2006 to see if the US can return to being an honest democracy. If it doesn't, I'll go some place where I feel my vote counts.

There is literally absolutely no way to predict the nature of the delusions upon which they may feel compelled to act.
