What is happening to this country?
I used to disagree with people about political things. I had my differences, but I let them pass. Now, they are getting more self-righteous and I am getting more irritated. Many Republicans are being cut out of my life. But I get uncomfortable whenever I have seen people I used to go to church with. I have gotten to the point of having no interest in seeing them. I have been colder to these people. It frustrates me all the more that while Boy Scouts has not exactly been a bastion of liberalism, I at least felt comfortable with them. Now I don't feel like I want anything to do with them either. It is even worse since the Bush administration is co-opting Boy Scouts. An organization, that (up until the no gays stink) I had extremely high regard for. Where the hell does it end? Armageddon? This is not my America.

3. I sort of feel the same way
This election has hurt my relationship with my mom, and any friends I make going forward will be based on who they voted for. If they voted for * and just did so out of ignorance, I figure I'll forgive them as long as they don't do it again and promise to get informed. If they know what they did, I want nothing to do with them.

4. The Un-United States of America-led by Neo-Con, Fascist Banana Republicans
That's what it's become....And I think it will end with a civil war if not worse.....

Not my America either & sadly enough, exactly what our Founding Fathers sought to avoid....

11. It is not my America either.
Every mythic Americanism I grew up with is dead. Now we're the evil empire, the invaders, the torturers.

Like you, I can't stand talking to republicans anymore. It used to be like a playful debate, just an intellectual game, but not anymore. I feel like we're at war now. I have a good friend who is a rabid right winger, and since the election, I've decided to basically end our friendship. Really don't want to hear the endless "liberal/elitist" name-calling crap. Other republicans I know, I'm going to boycott socially. I won't tell them why, but they'll get no invites from me.

It seems like to me that people who voted for bush are either ignorant, evil, or downright stupid. Or some combination thereof.

The question "what is happening to this country?" is indeed the question. I keep thinking that just as we reached the 21st century, bush came to knock us back into the dark ages.

13. I try to look at the bright side. I was at Thanksgiving dinner with
a passive aggressive Repub. Unpleasant, but I decided then and there that I wouldn't be attending his daughter's wedding early next year or sending a gift. Instead, I shall treat myself to a side of smoked salmon. All's well that ends well.

12. I'd suggest moving to a neighborhood that is more politically
intune w/ you, if you can find one. University towns are sometimes good bets for generally leftist leanings. Otherwise, move to another state's bastion of liberalness. You'll have more of a chance at a 'community' in the historic sense, and probably live longer.
