Is the Christian Right going to become Militant?
Edited on Fri Nov-26-04 06:55 PM by ck4829
All signs point to a very frightening Yes

According to Genocide Watch, there are 8 stages of Genocide.
http://www.genocidewatch.org/8stages.htm

1. Classification
2. Symbolization
3. Dehumanization
4. Organization
5. Polarization
6. Preparation
7. Extermination
8. Denial

We are somewhere between 4 and 5.

Classification - The Christian Right now identifies itself

Symbolization - In this case, this just is a continuation of stage 1

Dehumanization - The Christian Right dehumanizes it's enemies. "Spiritually blind Jews, Godless Atheists, Terrorist Muslims, Evil GLBT people, etc." While at the same time, the Christian Right is 'superhumanizing' itself, for example it is calling itself the Morally superior crowd

Organization - The Christian Right has created wave after wave of Activists, such as Same-Gender marriage, voting for Bush, going after the ACLU, etc.

Polarization - Not quite there yet, but Extremists such as Jerry Falwell are already forming groups such as the Revived Moral Majority. We can also look for an increase in propaganda, hate speech, and bigoted laws.

I do not mean this as an insult to average and peaceful Christians. I just want to make sure everybody knows before something terrible may happen.

3. I agree with that.
It's been stated here before that Christian righties would love to somwhow bring about judgement day on this earth. Their lust for political power is too strong to go away without a fight.

4. well, of course. they already kill abortion doctors...
...and cheer the deaths of GLBT people. (Rev. Fred Phelps, for example)
...and pray for the deaths of supreme court justices with whom they disagree
...if they could get away with it, they would be burning people at the stake.....witches, homosexuals, Episcopalians....

5. Symbolization
is found in the fish signs. Even some politicians used it on their campaign signs in the last election, and I see it on business signs all the time.

Since some of these lovely people have said they would kill all Muslims on the spot, I keep a very low profile.

6. I think that is a correct
and realistic demarcation of the current situation.

I would say they are well past organization. Polarization has been in the process for so long that some of the phases run parallel. I see it as more advanced than might be expected from a cursory glance.

Preparation is taking many forms already. I tend to see ideas like the Constitution Restoration Act as legalizing and condoning brutal, Luddite, Mosaic Law in essense.

Of course, we see and hear strong bigotry from Christo-Fascists. That kind of thinking can lend credence to ethnic cleansing eventually. If that is not preparation, I don't know what is.

However, I realize that preparpation is a far wider subject and exists already on a grass-roots level. It is just a question of when it will boil over and what will trigger it. Green lights are popping up here and there and the Government is not sanctioning the behavior in its rhetoric.

8. My stepson sent me this email that he received that is going
around I would assume all over the place and he is not all that religious believe me and yet, he called me and told me I had to read this and maybe it would make me rethink my postion on the Pretender...

It's titled Iraq- Very interesting- Did you Know?

There are from one to nineteen different things that occured in the bible that this letter states was called Babylon, now Iraq..I won't bore you with all of that and will only write the last, for this is what we are now dealing with from those who are demanding everyone follow them like good little sheep by claiming this war in Iraq was preordained in prophecy..

Israel is the nation most often mentioned in the bible. But do you know which nation is second? It is Iraq! However, that is not the name that is used in the Bible. THe names used in the Bible are Babylon, Land of Shinrar, nad Mesopotamia.

The word Masopotamia means between the two rivers, more exactly between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers. The name Iraq, means country with deep roots. Indeed Iraq is a country with deep roots and is a very significant country in the Bible.

No other nation, except Israel has more history and prophecy associeated it than Iraq. And also, this is something to think about. Since America is typically represented by an eagle. Saddam should have read up on his Muslim passages...

The following verse is from the Koran (Islamic Bible) Koran(9:11) - For it is written that a son of Arabia would awaken a fearsome Eagle. THe wrath of the Eagle would be felt throughout the lands of Allah and Lo, while some of the people trembled in despair, still more rejoiced; for the wrath of the Eagle cleansed the lands of Allah; and there was peace...

It's ended with (note the verse number) Hummmmmm?!God bless you all Amen!

(Now this obviously got to him and I would think it was more from the military point of view suggesting this Eagle shall win the peace as it seems to be preordained...well if one was to further the Koran studies one would realize that in the end they are supposed to prevail against the evil one that has taken that captive..but of course that is not even remotely suggested to the reader which is what I told him, I also told him that he should never forget that Man wrote the words of all religious doctrine, and since man is obviously vain and pompous and they have proven throughout history that the end results of such opinionated pieces were designed for nothing more than to control the people by fear, fear of the unknown...

Basicaly it is all unknown, religion is something you feel inside, not something you feel the need to rip someone's head off to make you feel as if you have done God's work...Well at least my God doesn't work that way, I guess their's does...

That's what you are up against, those that like to win (my stepson) and believe that fighting is a means to such an end, and of course those that follow the religious right blindly..kind of like killing two mules with one stone...

(sigh)

12. AuntPatsy, you need to tell your stepson
that there is no such passage in the Q'ran. This "fearsome eagle" allegory is made up out of whole cloth.

13. I really didn't know that, I will be sure to let him know that...
Think about the millions and I am no exaggerating here that will read that email and believe it to be Gospel. They will not take the time to read it themselves...This particular email originated out of Oklahoma, of that I am certain and from the religious right that bubbles just beneath the surface of all oilfield these days..

I had no clue what was beginning when I attendend such meetings with top officials in the Oil field and at the time, I admit that I did not follow politics all that keenly...

But I do recall feeling that something was not quite right with the turn that major oil companies were experiencing regarding their workers ethics that they like to call em. And I do recall some of those wifes, stepford comes to mind gushing over the b@@@@@ites though didn't give it much thought other than a smile and a nod...

This has been in play for quite some time, I would have to say it began about six years ago slowly but has since upscaled to very extreme proportions...and knowing many in that field, I know many of them to be nothing more than hypocrites...

If I had only paid more attention I would not have been so shocked by what occured in 2000....

And plenty of other countries use an eagle in their national symbols. Russia and Mexico to name a couple examples.

16. The Christian right has always been "militant."
They just like using municple and local armed police forces to do most of their heavy work. They love war, they love to make wars, they love to send other people's children off to fight in these wars, and they love to support war.
