What the hell are we doing in Iraq? |
|
Saddam is in custody his sons are dead. The Baathists are out of power There were no WMDs Our own puppet government is in power there We have utterly destroyed the beautiful buildings and infrastructure Our soldiers are being picked off one and two at a time.
Why are we still there???? To what end? Just to have a dubious election so Bush can claim to have brought "democracy" to Iraq? Meanwhile our soldiers are still being killed in Afghanistan and our puppet leader there can hardly venture outside his compound without heavy security.
Who will stop this maddness?

I have said to people, this is a war we cannot win;
but there is one thing that we can do, and that is kill people.
And we are doing that!

when they realize they've been played as fools. Right now, they are still in a state of denial thinking "their" president wouldn't send our kids to die without cause. We've been there and done that.

14 permanent military bases there. Think we're going anywhere soon? Meanwhile Bushies and the Media Inc. are saying, "See the cradle? See the cat?"

18. Stop supporting the war supporters |
|
I've had enough ...
I will no longer support or work for any democrat who doesn't speak out against the insanity in Iraq ...
Democrats need to demand that all troops be withdrawn from Iraq no later than March 31 ... that's plenty of time for an orderly withdrawal ...
No U.S. troops are to remain ... American troops are nothing more than hired security guards for multi-national corporations that are in Iraq to exploit the Iraqi people. It's way past time for the Halliburton Army and the Bechtel Airforce to be kicked out of there.
I want to hear from every elected Democrat before the end of this calendar year. I especially want to hear some specifics from such high profile Democrats as Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, Joe Biden, Barack Obama, Howard Dean, Tom Vilsack and probably a dozen or more others.
This war was dead wrong before it ever started and too many Democrats did not do enough to prevent it. I supported Kerry in this election in spite of my deep belief that he did not handle Iraq correctly. I won't rehash all the old arguments again. Kerry needs to clearly and forcefully call for the withdrawal of all American troops by March 31.
Democrats need to be an opposition party. Only two possibilities exist for the failure of many Democrats to speak out against the invasion of Iraq. One is that that they fundamentally agree with the U.S. presence there. Arguing that they support the goals but don't agree with how bush has handled Iraq is totally unacceptable. WE HAVE NO RIGHT TO BE THERE.
The second is that they are worried about the political implications of calling for peace while the troops are engaged in combat operations. This is even more detestable than the first possibility. There is no room for political positioning while we continue the wholesale slaughtering of Iraqi citizens. Again, WE HAVE NO RIGHT TO THERE.
I will continue to support the "good" Democrats in the future. But I will do all I can to find replacements for those Democrats who clearly are lacking a moral compass on this issue.
