Many personal rights were torn to shreds in the 50's by Joseph McCarthy and his toadies. Does anyone see any parallels to this in our current political climate?

there's no Edward R. Murrow. Farewell, Bill Moyers; you don't know how much we'll miss you.

5. Card Carrying Communist |
|
Since May - and now, especially now - I will be unrelenting in doing whatever it takes to restore democracy, civil rights, etc. for this nation. My dad (in MN) was a card-carrying communist during the McCarthy era - just for spite! When Reagan won, my dad and mom quit the GOP: Dad became involved in "Watch on the Right" - now TheocracyWatch.org and Mom joined NOW and Planned Parenthood. They are both dead now, but their spirits live on. Yes, these times do seem a bit like the McCarthy era and all I have to say is "Make my day!" I'm just continuing the fight my folks began and this time, we will prevail.

7. We can speak for our side |

start writing letters to the editor, start doing freeway blogs, start printing up articles that are important to you and put them on cars at the super market, start having meet-ups for your politically minded friends.
Yes, things are bad but don't forget for every Murrow we have a William Randolf Hurst.
We have the Daily Show and the internet, that is a good start.
