Very hypocritical political cartoon from today's Sun-Times
Obviously the cartoonist (Higgins) forgot about *'s "Top Gun" stunt!

1. just photoshop Bush's head and Bush name on banner
of course the real difference is that Bush actually
used the ship, troops, plane, helicopter
for his political brochures. All Kerry did was stand in
front of a docked ship.

2. Yeah. I saw that on the way in today.
When was the last time the Yorktown flew any sorties? So how is it that holding a press event there can be considered "Wasting military recources"?

And of course there's always the fact that Kerry is a decorated hero, and w* was AWOL from the National Guard.

Higgins is really out of touch.

6. The Yorktown was commissioned during WW2.
It was decommisioned 33 years ago. In 1970.

There's no truth to the rumor that the British Navy is commissioning a new ship called the HMS Thom Yorketown.

(Sorry, I had to throw that one in for all you Radiohead fans.)

4. It's the Sun-Times
What else do you expect?

At least Kerry actually was in the shit, unlike Bush, who got to go AWOL without being shot for treason.

8. Most effective would be to get veterans to send protest letters ...
protesting the slur on a decorated vet.

I support Dean, but I don't like to see smears like this on Kerry, or on others.

7. I think Kerry's making a mistake
playing up his military service. Unless he's willing to come right out and discuss Bush's AWOL openly, which does not seem to be the case, he's counting on people to make inferences and coming off like he's copying Bush.
