With deference to Steven Joseph Vincent, I would like to extend his legacy
it began here:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=104&topic_id=2587059

My name is Karl Rolla Schneider (middle name given by my dad who went to university in the town of my namesake in Missouri...it was called "Missouri School of Mines" back in the 30s...)

The thread that Steven started will be recalled by many DUers, but it strikes me that a lot of new members will have missed it and I think it is well worth a look. Make of it what you will. I say, as did Steve,
that nobody is going to abrogate our right to speak freely, and while it is perfectly understandable that anonymity is desirable or possibly necessary for some, we choose to doff that cloak. Speaking for myself,
I'm not afraid of the fascists who would probably like to silence me...the worst thing they can do is to kill me, but I don't statistically have all that much time left anyway, so whatever I may have to lose isn't all that important. I don't have children, but I do have 7 neices and nephews, and I don't want them to endure what I'm afraid the future will entail if something isn't done to reverse the rush to fascistic theocracy I'm perceiving. Okay, enough...have a look at Steve's thread if you care to

1. I am not afraid. And I am....
Sheila Roche. Of Chicago. My sweetie lives in Oklahoma City. Long-distance loves are a bummer, but he is worth it. We both have elderly parents (90-plus) to see after, demanding jobs, etc. Some day....even though we are both in our 50s.

Funny coincidence about your middle name. I work with a woman named Rolla, born about 1940. When Rolla's mother was pregnant with her, a sister went to visit someone in Rolla, MO. The sister sent a postcard and Rolla's mother liked the name...and so gave it to her daughter.

The weekend Steven's thread first appeared, I spent lots of time with other Chicago DUers. Saturday took a friend/member/lurker to lunch and we talked about it. Then on Sunday, there was a Chicago DU get-together and the thread was much talked about. Some had responded, others didn't and for good reason (job protection).

I was born in 1942...tell your friend hello from someone with the same unusual name. :D

edit: Meant to mention, I was born in Illinois...not Chicago, way down south in Centralia. :-)

3. I will.
That is such a coincidence. I had never previously heard of it as a first name.

Thanks for the good wishes, Karl. He has been badly hurt in the past, but I am trying to get him past that. I have been described as confronting difficulties head on...sort of bashing into them with all my might.

4. I don't know if your username is literal, but my mom is literally a "great
aunt of triplets" :D All 3 of them started college in September.
Nice kids. :-)

Christian, Jordan and Alexandra are 4 years old. Smart and smart asses. I had dinner with them tonight. Great kids. chris and Jordan are boys, Alex is a girl. They look nothing alike and have entirely different personalities. This family lives in a three-ring circus.

I know a woman a couple years younger than me who is a triplet. Ours were conceived with in-vitro fertilization.

I hope your triplets do well in college. Damn hard to pay for 3 at one time. We are hoping for a scholarship or two or three.....

6. I hear you loud and clear, my 2 neices & 1 nephew are nothing alike.
Except they're all hellions of one sort or other :D

Emily is studying Veterinary medicine, Kevin, Chemical Engineering and
Abbie (Abagail -what an odd choice for a name in my particular family?)
is into --- are you ready? Auto mechanics! I have a sneaking suspicion they'll do quite well, thankyourverymuch. :D
