Who is your least favorite Liberal pundit?
Mine is Alan Colmes. Why is such a smart guy, so timid next to the putz Hannity who is so bigoted and uninformed.

A second would be Randi Rhodes. She just seems over-the-top, whinny and uneducated.

1. Colmes
Why was Colmes picked?
Hannity knows Colmes is a moderate and isn't the type that defends himself or his party easily. To be fair to Colmes, I did think he was pretty good when Mary Landrieu was on the show because he did try to point out Sean Hannity's disgusting hypocrisy.

2. Bill Maher
I'm really disappointed with Bill Maher. He's so good until the going gets tough, and then he jumps ship. I've had it with him.

12. Maher doesn't even identify himself as one of us.
He's a "libertarian", although he does come off as "liberal" to some.

I really don't understand why you'd be concerned with him as he "jumps ship", considering he was never truly on this ship to begin with.

13. I've heard him call himself a liberal a few times...
He seems big on civil liberties, but not the 'no tax' stuff.

3. Colmes, definitely
Rhodes actually seems quite educated. She always seem very up on current events, and when something goes down, she usually has a point of reference to back up her claims. Plus, she was in the Air Force and can talk military speak to shut up the right-wing militia types.

But, yeah, she can get very over-the-top.

7. Colmes is great
on his own program on radio left on Sirius. I find myself wondering what happens to him with Hannity.
Give Randi a chance...she may be uneducated but she's really smart. She knows how and where to research. She rarely has a fact wrong. I get irritated though when another liberal calls and she doesn't agree with their ideas...she gets just as snarky with them as she does conservative wing bats.

10. Why do you think she is uneducated?
You may not care for her style, which is completely your prerogative, but she is very well informed. Her lack of a fancy schmancy degree from an elite university may make her stand out from the herd of political pundits, but that's precisely what a lot of her listeners find refreshing and encouraging. But that's just my take on her.

15. Franken
I have listened to 3 of his shows via streaming audio. Very unimpressed. He is fading fast for me. This is from someone who has bought several of his books hard cover. I loved him on his speech circuit. What a disappointment.

17. I noticed too that Franken has gotten a bit dry.
Honestly, I feel there just is not that much news to cover. The congress is not in session, and because Kerry lost, we can't have the fun debates over who he should nominate for the various cabinet posts.
Once the GOP rolls out their agenda, he and the others should be more interesting as they will have a lot to say.

19. A "pundit" is someone
Edited on Mon Nov-29-04 12:37 AM by gumby
who is on the mainstream's roster and who appears regularly to present the "liberal" point of view. I contend there aren't any.

Franken may have the most visibility, but he is seen more as a "celebrity" than a "pundit." You don't see him on any of the Sunday shows as a regular, do you?

Colmes and Randi are not "pundits" either. Colmes appears on TV as Hannity's foil and Randi - while making scattered and few TV appearances - is a radio host. Neither are "pundits."

There are NO "liberal pundits" that appear regularly on any TV network to present the "liberal" perspective.

edited to enter "TV" because that is essential in the deffinition of "pundit." Even the print "pundits" appear regularly on TV.

20. Donna Brazille. I also wasn't impressed with Paul Begala when Stewart was
on crossfire.

He was pissing me off just a little bit.

21. That embarrassment named Donna Brazille is from my home town...
which REALLY pisses me off!

I saw that Crossfire episode (the ONLY one I've watched this year) with Jon Stewart. It's too bad Jon didn't give Begala a verbal black eye like he did the bow tie twit... then again, I was quite satisfied with watching Jon give CNN the big:

Her little knife-between-the-shoulderblades statements are really wearing thin.
