The Yushchenko Mythos (Caution on Ukraine situation)
The Yushchenko Mythos

Don't believe the U.S. government's fairy tale about what's happening in Ukraine

According to the U.S. government, and commentators on the left as well as the (neoconservative) right, the crisis in the Ukraine is a clear-cut case of "democracy" versus authoritarianism, "the people" versus "the oligarchs," and the forces of enlightened Europhilia up against the sinister specter of a resurgent Russia and a revivified KGB.

The only problem with this narrative is that it is unmitigated bunk...

1. Good link
I've been thoroughly confused by that situation...this is a strange movie we're in. hard to tell the good guys from the bad guys. this at least provides another point of view.

5. So did Yanukovich . . .
<snip>

In fact, the two Viktors, before Moscow and Washington hijacked their campaigns, were not proposing radically different programmes. Both, for example, said they would pull Ukrainian troops out of Iraq very soon.

3. I generally take that site with a grain of salt,
but there are enough specifics there, particularly concerning the guy Wearing The White Hat, that I'll spend a few hours double-checking it with Google. Thanks for providing that article.

The irony here is that the "proof of electoral fraud" seems to be those pesky exit polls. I sure HOPE Bush & Co. make that public assertion.
