Do they have 'Patriot' gas stations where you are?
I saw these over the summer in Oregon and California. I couldn't believe it! 'Patriot' Gas Stations, red, white, and blue, with a mock United States flag.(Flag only has one star) If you notice, most gas stations corporate logos have some variation of red, white and blue in them. What could be more American than buying gasoline? I googled 'Patriot gas station' and came up with nothing. Please confirm that I was not just seeing things in my travels out west. They do exists, don't they? By the way, I thought it was ironic that it was called 'Patriot' but the flag on the logo only had one star, which is actually the flag of Liberia. I am sure the Liberians will be happy to see that Liberian patriotism has made it across the pond and taken root in the good 'ole U.S. of A.

All Hail, Liberia, Hail!
(Liberian national anthem)

11. Same company, same symbol
But it was called "Patriot". Some corporations change their names regionally, like Hardees and Carls Jr. etc. That must be the same company.

20. You're probably right.
I don't doubt that you saw a "Patriot" gas station in CA or OR. Google "patriot gas station" (with the quotes), and you'll find some hits.

The stations that I always avoid while traveling are the "Kum and Go" stations. Good lord.

13. Patriot Gas
Not to my knowledge in AZ but will be on the lookout. Since I retired just fill my tank maybe once every three weeks. I'm close enough to stores where I can walk. If I take my car anyplace, it is too far to walk especially with the dogs, but not far enough to use a lot of gas.

15. I'm not sure if it was No. California or Oregon
And it may have been 'Freedom' gas like the previous poster suggested. I am about 90% sure it was 'Patriot' though.

17. I seriously doubt you saw those in Oregon
I lived there for three years (sorry, Oregonians...I hated it...loved the scenery...couldn't get out of Portland fast enough).

I always said that people in Key West WISHED the rest of the US would fall off the face of the earth...People in Oregon think it already has.

27. There are three of them in Eureka, CA (liberal Humboldt County)
Edited on Mon Nov-29-04 09:07 PM by Zinfandel
And they had a monopoly going with other Humboldt Petroleum companies...Eureka always has the highest gas prices in the country...usually about 10 to 12 cents more per gallon than San Francisco, which is always reported as the highest.

Costco brought in a station and pissed off Humboldt Petroleum, they tried everything to keep Costco out...so much for the repugs lies about the free market and competition.

Costco has helped a bit though.

26. You sure did see them in CA
I know there are some "Patriot Gas" stations in Humboldt county (Eureka), so you weren't hallucinating. Even if you were in Humboldt county.

The thing I'm not sure about is if they were called that before September 11, 2001. Anyone know?

29. Thanks, I knew I saw them!
Outrageous! They must be part of a larger chain that has several "patriotic" and "American" themes for their names. Another poster had this link which is essentially the same as "Patriot" but under the name "Freedom". http://www.gassigns.org/freedom.htm
These corporations are completely shameless.

31. Buying gas is NOT patriotic
It's why we're in this damn war. If we had a decent president, he'd come out and say - any family that buys more than 20 gallons of gas a week is a pack of traitors.
