I watched just a bit of it. But what I saw was heartbreaking. Showed the senator touring Bedford-Stuyvesant (sp?) slums in NY and how he worked to pull together various groups (business, gov't, aid organizations, and the people who lived there) to try to pull the citizens of that area up out of poverty.

Talked about McCarthy and, finally, Kennedy running for the dem nomination in 1968.

They were saying the same thing about Vietnam back then that they are saying about Iraq - better to fight them in Vietnam than to fight them in Laos, or, heaven forbid, on our own west coast...

They showed an interview on Face the Nation. Words cannot express the difference between that wonderful man and the trash that repeatedly shows up on Sunday morning nowadays.

John and Bobby Kennedy. May they rest in peace. ;(

2. compare him
to most of our pathetic Democrats nowadays. Most of our Dem senators are now to the right of Nixon on economic policy, with the exception of Teddy Kennedy, Russ Feingold, and Barbara Boxer.

He left this planet way too early. We need more like him.

Perhaps if our media and we promoted, defended and protected our leaders better, we would have more leaders of his calibre, and willing to fight for what is in the highest good of everyone, like he did.
