Watching 'If these walls could talk' |

The footage from the rallies really got to me. Our country and rights are being taken away from us and NOBODY seems to care. Our country has been hijacked by the corporations, christian right and neo-cons.
We have to start a movement NOW if we want anything to change for the better. It is going to get a whole lot worse before it gets better, and we need to be organized and prepared. I am scared to death about what the next 4+ years will bring.

(rather divided, it is true) -- we need an organization.
I am thinking of something like DFA, which would let us work both within and without the Democratic Party -- because there are places the Party just isn't prepared to go.
It would be helpful to use an existing organization and to have a nationally recognized leader (or leaders). One downside of this is that it will require that organization (with its leader's support) to be something more than a vehicle for the advancement of its leaders and their supporters. And this organization must be willing to make common cause with other organizations (like MoveOn, the Greens, etc), where it is in the common interest.
...
In case you don't know, I was a Clark supporter and I am a current Kerry supporter. But the time is coming, I think, to be ready to move on and find some new way to continue the struggle -- and I say this regardless of the final outcome of the election (if this is not already a given).
