Camejo on the California Debates |
|
He came off as such a weiner. I doubt many voters will vote for him because he came off so bad and wimpy. If I didn't know the issues, then on basis of demeanor i would have chosen McClintok who was cool, unruffled and soft spoken. Unfortunately, he is far too conservative for my taste, but his debating demeanor was exceptional. If only camejo and McClintock switched manners...... When he called opposition to illegal immigration 'apartheid' and carried on about the 'oppression of gays and lesbians' he really came off as full of shit, or just a wacko. His self rightousness was irritating, and so was his speaking manner, which came off as faked.

I'm glad Independents got a chance to participate . They spiced up the debate .
Every time Mcklintok opened his mouth save one comment I wanted to smack the T.V.
With that being said I will vote No on the recall and Yes for Bustamante ..Things could change for me , but most likely that's how I'll vote

4. The things you describe are just in the eyes of the beholder; others |
|
will see it quite differently.
For example, I thought Camejo was intelligent, articulate & thoughtful, while McClintock seemed to me bug-eyed, nervous, and transparently dishonest.

many do vote based on how a person comes off as rather than what they actually support. these people would view mcclintock as a republican safe enough to vote for and not some tom delay type. this is why arnold is so popular. the whore media worshipping him disgusts those who know the issues, but others fall for it. at this point the recall looks like it will pass. my hope is that the long list of candidates will scare some voters into voting no on recall because of uncertainty at who could win.

6. I thought McClintock was right on two issues |
|
Edited on Thu Sep-04-03 02:32 PM by TheYellowDog
One being that the governor should definitely respect the will of the people of California with regard to medical marijuana. I was surprised when he said this, but of course all of the other candidates agreed, so that was good. The other issue that I believe he was right on was that illegal immigrants should not be able to attend state universities and pay the in state tuition rate. I think that is a terrible idea and unfair to people who live in neighboring states like Nevada and Oregon, who have to pay the far higher tuition rate. All that this would do is encourage more illegal immigration. And don't get me wrong, I support amnesty for illegal immigrants, and I support giving them driver's licenses, but I definitely do NOT support giving them subsidized in-state tuition at the expense of working families in California. Giving them 75% off of tuition out of the pockets of middle class families is just immoral. There is NO right to a subsidized college education for illegal immigrants. I'm not a ranting conservative, I just think that with the shape California is in right now, this is way over the top. I support health care for illegal immigrants, because I believe you should help sick people, it's the right thing to do. But this doesn't include higher education.

He spewed all the right wing propaganda BS on a couple issues, like taxes, abortion, and a few other. And he looked like a weaselly drone. He turned my stomach.

9. And about in state tuition for people who live in and contributedq |
|
to the CA economy...your comment makes me wonder if you have a soul and a conscience. No californian is better off if their NEIGHBORS are irrationally held back by prejudice. When the people closest to you does better, you do better.

7. The hings he said hurt the Republicans the most. If he hadn't |
|
been up there it there would have been more liars up there than people telling the truth.
I think it helpbed Cruz to have someon farther to the left telling the truth. Arianna helped to. It pushes Cruz a little to the center where all the vote are. I just wish he would have acknowledged where Cruz was on the good side of the issue. Curz has the same property tax and income tax position Camejo had, and he could have noted that Cruz actually does know how the poor experience life in California.

If you replace Camejo with McClintock in your post that would be much closer to reality
