C-SPAN -- Americans leaving for Canada.
That's the topic. Wouldn't you know it, the American who said he was leaving because America no longer reflected his values and he didn't feel he could make a difference, was berated by the ex-marine (who only served one year in Iraq). A liberal stood up and pointed out that the right-wingers are the only kinds of people who say, If you don't like it, leave. And then when you do, they berate you for leaving.

Right-wingers just know one thing: hate.

1. Great broadcast
I watched that last night, and it was a great show. I liked what the liberal guy you mentioned had to say.

2. Kind of like wife-beaters.
Probably not a coincidence.

3. That's a good, though sad, show.
Produced by CBC's "The National." I'm glad CSPAN picked it up.

You're right. The hate the right shows to those who just want to live their lives boggles the mind.

4. I know. They finally get what they want and they're still not happy.
Maybe it's because what they lose in white males, they gain from south of the border.

5. The descendant of Francis Scott Keyes
Edited on Tue Nov-30-04 01:45 PM by Minstrel Boy
saying, after a lifetime fighting for progressive causes, he'd given up and was moving to Canada, was very poignant. His voice was shaking. It was obviously a heartbreaking choice.

And the woman who said she hoped "Canada can stay Canada, and we can stop George Bush from invading you" - that choked me up. Because even though it got laughs, it was apparent that she meant it.

6. American culture has been evading countries for years. I love
the way that Canada kept the best and resisted the rest.

7. On the flip side
Last night, the Daily Show had a segment by Samantha Bee about two conservatives from Canada who wanted to move to the United States. She also interviewed a conservative anti-immigration activist from the U.S. to get his opinion. Very funny. Catch the re-run if you can.
