Is this true: Clinton for VP in 2000 |
|
I read somewhere that some Dems wanted to nominate Bill Clinton in 2000 as Gore's VP. Was this given any serious thought? I think it would have been a great idea.

Read the Constitution. This subject has been hashed to mush a long time ago.

Clinton was not elligible to continue or resume his presidency. Part of the VP's role is to stand in for the President.

4. That has to be a rumour |

Because he could only have been President for two more years. A President is now limited to 10 years, two terms elected as President and 2 years as a President who took over the office. I couldn't see anyone seriously considering it because it could have created a real mess.
