Who vetted the KC speech?
Now I realize tha KC, MO and KC, KS are one big extended city; but the shrub was speaking on the MO side in a speech tagged as a MO speech. Why then, did he compare the 911 loss in the US economy to losing the economy of the whole state of Kansas. Did he misspeak or was he caught in one of those Kansas tornadoes?

1. He doesn't know one state from another...
Unless, of course, it's Texas, Conn., or Maine! :eyes:

3. I think he misspoke
There's no way Kansas had 80 billion dollars in ecomomic output....we're mostly farmland. I don't know what in the hell he was talking about. Any economists out there know if he meant Missouri? He probably thought he was in Kansas cause he was in KANSAS City. That can be confusing if your mommy isn't there to explain it to you.

CNN picked up on this too. Now if Al Gore had misspoke like that, it would be the lead story tonight on every news .

However, if he did mix up Kansas with Missouri, that will make the people on both sides of the state line mad because we do not like people who can't tell us apart. What an idiot.

13. That is what I thought, too
Good to have you verify it. Your last paragraph says it nicely. I live in a twin city and know how one side feels about being confused with the other. This is good. I love it when he blows his lines.

"God damn Missouri!"

8. You answered it
One of the richest areas (and most likely to be filled with his supporters who were present today) is Johnson County, Kansas. Kansas and MO are one and the same in Kansas City.
Of course, there is still a rivalry.
But its nothing like what I have seen between Illinois/Wisconsin.

The point is, Kansas is considered the local area in KC.

10. I didn't watch, can't watch actually
I don't want to throw things at the television. Was anyone there protesting this warmonger? I was sixty miles away and it may as well have been a thousand. Thanks to my 18 year old car and gasoline, well anyway what can you expect from our idiot in chief?
I learned a long time ago that if it's lips are moving it's lying, hopefully more people pick up on this.
There's lots of good people in Johnson County home of Dennis Moore and the third district. I used to live there, long time gone, when I was a kid. The last time I was there I got lost it's changed so much.

When they showed him those elephants in Africa, he probably thought the circus was in town.

19. I told my dh aobut this
and he hung his head in embarassment over our President not having a fucking clue. Either that or Pickles pickled him before he went on the road today.

But like his ineptitude discussing, well, anything, the media pretty much just says, "Aw shucks, that's George! He can't help it that he's disabled," or some other garbage. He gets a free pass, just like in college. He'll blame some lowly speech writer if he catches any flak. I bet he didn't even realize it.

He said something about "Merry old Ireland" when he went to Northern Ireland early this year (?). I think one of the Brits corrected him by saying something to the effect that most people don't consider N.Ireland to be anything close to "merry".

Yes, the media said there were a couple of hundred protesters.
