Orwellian Disconnect: International Torture Pariah George W. Bush
...is considered by many in his own country to be a person of high moral purpose who best exemplifies the pristine values of the country he leads.

Of course, every once in a while President Bush is obliged to leave the United States for places where the rigid control over reality necessary to make such views even remotely plausible is not in place, resulting in mass demonstrations, expressions of popular outrage, and even - as we saw in Columbia - attempts on his life.

Unfortunately for those of us who live here it could be that the time is rapidly approaching where it will be impossible for the President of the United States to leave the country at all due to concerns for both his personal dignity and safety. Which means his handlers will be forced to schedule busy time for the otherwise useless Mr. Bush for junkets about the country where he will make speeches reminding us of his pure and selfless love for humanity and God.

1. Yeah, more trips to the campus I work on.
I'm totally excited...except not at all.

3. Good point, H.
I think that security for George Bush has ALWAYS been an issue, whether domestic or outside the country. I can't even imagine how much they spend on security. It must be astronomical.

Recall when the "royalty wannabe" Bush traveled to England, about 2 years ago. The fools brought with them 700 security guards. They trampled the Queen's lawn and I believe they broke an old tree standing in the yard. Same thing with the trip to Italy.

I believe they had to find 10,000 Italian troops to help out. Just imagine the cost to the countries that are hosting this pariah. I agree with you: in many cases, these countries will have to say no to the unwelcome visitor. It's going to become too expensive, and they won't be able to guarantee his security.

Bush MUST know this, doesn't he? :smoke:

4. Now there's an idea
Perhaps Georgie has somehow confused his personal safety with the "homeland security" of the nation. And since he has now made several billion new enemies for America worldwide, his need to protect himself from evil doers everywhere has made such considerations as personal freedoms and individual rights incomprehensible to this strangest of presidents.

After all, aren't they all after HIM?
