I was talking to a member of the Air Force
I was at the barber shop today talking to someone who belongs to the U.S. Air Force. He told me there is going to be a draft. He was absolutely certain about this.

This guy sounded like a Republican because he thinks we are at the end time with the Iraq War and everything else that is going on.

3. Well,

I can't agree with the (so called "Christian") end time thing (coming out of our Mideastern and other "adventures") -- but a full-scale nuclear war would come pretty close -- although this is not what the crazies are looking for (I hope) -- even if it is what they may get as a substitute.

4. You Better Believe There's Going to Be a Draft!!!
How do you know whan Bush is lying? His lips are moving!

Here's a post I pulled off of masslive.com. It was written before the election obviously, but the information here is all true, sadly. I have read that it will be a draft of both men and women and that there will be no college deferments. Other details are provided below.

TEN REASONS A VOTE FOR BUSH IS A VOTE FOR A DRAFT

1. BUSH SENIOR ADVISOR KARL ROVE HAS ALREADY SOLICITED AND OBTAINED GOP SUPPORT FOR A DRAFT IN CONGRESS.

2. THE BUSH PENTAGON PLANS “5 OR 6” REGIME CHANGES AFTER NOVEMBER 2.

3. THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION IS PURSUING THE NEOCON VISION OF “WW IV” WHICH THEY DEFINE AS A CRUSADE AGAINST RADICAL ISLAM WHICH FESTERS "EVERYWHERE" IN THE MIDDLE EAST.

4. EVEN ONE REGIME CHANGE—IRAN—WOULD REQUIRE CONSCRIPTION.

5. THE BUSHIES HAVE ALREADY LEAKED PLANS FOR REGIME CHANGE IN IRAN.

6. THE SELECTIVE SERVICE PROMISED TO GIVE BUSH THE GREEN LIGHT ON 3/31/05 FOR A DRAFT BEGINNING ON 6/15/05 AND THE SELECTIVE SERVICE IS FILLING DRAFT BOARD POSITIONS.

7. "IT DOESN'T TAKE A NUCLEAR SCIENTIST" TO SEE BUSH CANNOT MUSTER THE SUPPORT OF OUR ALLIES AND WILL NEED AMERICAN TROOPS TO COMPENSATE FOR THE LOSS OF ALLIED TROOPS; EVEN CONSERVATIVES CALL HIM THE "MOST DETESTED" WORLD LEADER. FLASH (10/18/04): GOP FOREIGN POLICY STAR SAYS BUSH ACTED "CONTEMPOUSLY" OF OUR ALLIES. GEORGE BUSH IS BY ALL ACCOUNTS UNABLE TO MUSTER ANY DEGREE OF MULTILATERAL SUPPORT FOR HIS WARS OF CHOICE; THIS MEANS US TROOPS WILL DIE ALONE IN COMBAT.

8. THE BUSHIES HAVE TAKEN MEASURES TO STOP FLIGHT TO CANADA, TO ELIMINATE COLLEGE DEFERMENTS, AND MAKE EVASION HARDER.

9. THEY ALREADY HAVE A DRAFT PLAN (OBTAINED UNDER FOIA) AND IT DETAILS A DRAFT THAT INCLUDES WOMEN AND EXTENDS UP TO AGE 34.

10. ASK THE EXPERTS: COL. RON RAY; PROF. DON ZILLMAN; PROF. NED LEBOW; COL. DAVID HACKWORTH.

7. for what it's worth
i downloaded an application of the Selective Service website last spring to serve on the local selective service board.

pay no attention to those men behind the curtain.

and when we have that draft, i hope moveon.org runs ad's featuring the debate point * made- "there will be no draft in a GWB administration... that's all... (folks)

8. I sent my repub brother a couple of
websites about the potential draft because he has 2 sons, ages 19 and 21. He told me not to send him that "drivel" because "his president" said they would never implement the draft. I wish I wouldn't have to rub it in his face, but fear I will.

9. "the draft" will come on the coat-tails of another "terrorist" attack....
thus absolving fuck-story Bush of his campaign promise. Just as 9/11 has acted as the pretext for his massive deficit spending.

14. Draft
I fear you will too. I have 2 teens and 1 pre-teen at home. We are all fiercely anti-war, if that's not an oxy-moron.

If and when my children get drafted, I told them it's better to spend a little time in jail than to spend a lot of time dead. Plus, I think my children will have a whole lot of nice company in all the prisons the US will have to build for all the people who just won't participate in a trumped up war.

I wonder if the Bush girls will be heading off to Iraq or Iran or Syria anytime soon?

22. "his president" also said ...
... that we had enough money to cut taxes, invest in missle defense AND pay down the deficit.

... that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction.

The will say National Security, Wartime crisis, etc.

6. serves you right to get a haircut (joke)
I don't think there will be a draft because jobs and housing will become so scarce people will line up for a meal and a warmer place to sleep.

13. Want to avoid combat? Join the the air force.
They get all the "military" bennies but it's very, very far from the fighting.

Your suggestion relies on their being defined battle-lines. There are none in Iraq.

16. Plus logistics
...Cargo loaders, maintenance, etc..

National Guard unit ready for home
Delaware airmen set records in Iraq

"The mortar rounds hit with a muffled "whump!" and sometimes there is a jagged scar of black smoke in the bright blue skies over Balad Air Base, about 40 miles northwest of Baghdad....

...Airmen from the 166th Aerial Port Flight have helped set new records for moving cargo into and out of Balad in support of coalition forces in Iraq and Afghanistan."

http://www.delawareonline.com/newsjournal/local/2004/12/02nationalguardun.html

* All the soldiers going in to augment the current level are soldiers that can't replace those already serving "in-country" when it's their time to come home. Therefore fresh replacements have to be squeezed from somewhere new. Hmmmmmm.....

17. There weren't any in Nam either
But @ the Bob Hope show I got to attend @ "Freedom Hill" (Danang '67) there was a sea of airmen & perhaps 50 of us Marines that somehow got out of ambush patrol duty in the bush that nite. Of course we were able to see the plush 2 story barracks inside the air base. We, being Marines were only allowed to look in from the outside. Marines were not allowed on board your base. Our job was to stay in the bush to keep you from being over-run while we received the same pay & bennies as you.....
At least we could always count on Marine Air when we needed ammo or a med-evac.
Am I bitter? Yes.

18. Its closer than you think
Just by joining the air force doesn't mean you'll be far from the fighting.

I recently went through basic, and have my flight who joined under "open general" contracts went on to become security force, which are the most heavily deployed job other than combat control and pararescue.

People normally considered career desk jockeys are finding themselves in convoy escort duty.
