A Blonde Woman!

I wasn't paying great attention at the time, so forgive me for the lack of details.

I had Fox News on the television and they had a feature with a field reported in Iraq. It was a "feel-good" story, in which this fellow...and white male American reporter related an anecdote in which a good number of Iraqi soldiers were blessed with a chance to see a real live blonde woman in person (she may have been a reporter maybe a solider I didn't catch that part). Apparently they were so enamored with her that they were walking into poles and walls. Everyone on the air agreed and indicated in so many words that it was a real treat for these Iraqi men to get an in-person glimpse of a white blonde haired Western woman.

Does anyone have any concerns at this point? Is anything eerie about this? Or perhaps not? For some reason this episode has stuck with me for a few days now.

2. They simply provide fuel...

...confirmation to many in the Islamic faith, that the West demonstrates great hypocrisy in trying to say they are "liberating" women or bringing democracy. How many people in the US understand that there are women who cover themselves, and those that don't, in Iraq? How many know that men and women had professional educations in medicine, law, engineering? But parade a Blondie Caucasian in front of them, and what is that saying?

The "American" "ideal" of beauty is not one universally shared the world over, but foisting this "ideal" on Iraqi men will reinforce the notion that the US is a corrupting influence. I'm sure statistics in the coming months and years will bear this out as well.

3. That's the best feel good story they can come up with now?

Perhaps Fox News can team up with Sinclair Broadcast Group and they can go to Iraq with some plywood to help rebuild Fallujah.

4. if it was a FOX reporter

with the botoxed, bleached, siliconed Tammy Faye look of the women on that network, the Iraqi men were probably in shock. Why do we always assume our culture is envied around the world? Ridiculed is more like it.

There was an all white and predominantly blonde Mormon Tabernacle Choir in white robes in the ice fortress, singing hymns...

It was like "Oh My god - this is Hitler's dream come true".

7. People are so white in Utah, I mean they are

milk white in skin, pale, pale eyes and hair. Not everyone, but it's so predominant that you feel like you walked into a Sunday school vision of angels. It's very weird.

When Heather Numbnut said "Here I was this young blonde in the middle of Sudan and I was worried what they would do to me"

I mean I am partial to blondes but like I said before they have attractive people on fox that turn you off when they open their mouths.
