Why do we need leaders? Why wait for some savior figure to help us?

We all believe in many of the same things. The only question is how to translate that into action. I say all we need to do is build a consensus amongst ourselves as to what to do. We need a party run from the bottom-up, not the top-down. We need a party where we are the head of the party, not some high and mighty politician class thousands of miles away out of our reach and behind closed doors who can claim all day that they represent us.

Why did we set up a party hierarchy to begin with which is prone to being corrupted and being infiltrated by careerists only interested in a paycheck and pension plan instead of rocking the boat when it needs rocking? Why can't we all be leaders directly walking hand-in-hand together? Why can't we "be the change we wish to see" without waiting for new leadership to emerge? Are we that dependent on others doing the guiding for us? Why not guide ourselves?

When we approach politics, shouldn't it be conducted in a way where politicians fall behind us, the real leader and power holder in this country, instead of the other way around?

I am venting now, and I'm seriously getting angry with the way we approach politics in this country. If we're going to elect people, we should elect them to do what we elected them to do, not hope that they will do what we want them to. This kind of concentration of power leaves too much margin for unaccountability. Couldn't we make the system a little bit more direct as far as democracy is concerned?

I had an argument to disagree - how the Green party is only in the more liberal areas, for instance. But there is no reason why it could not start there and grow. It wouldn't take the whole country - just enough.

Supporting the Greens might be the way to go.
