RUSSIA OILS the SAUDI ROYALS while RICE BOILS
Given the recent discussions in various threads on the Rusia/Saudi oil deal, usable nuclear materiels, and the where-a-bouts of Chimpy's NSA, I thought I would post some "random thoughts from a rambling mind" in hopes of generating some good discussion.

1) Russia is in need of a solid economy and needs a base upon which to build that economy. So why not make the base all the oil they are sitting on top of? Why not market what they have?

that said:

2) In order to use that oil Russia needs help. I seem to remember reading some articles about various drilling firm with vague, and maybe not so vague ties to Chimpy and "the family". Why not go with firms owned by Carlyle-Haliburton et al? Maybe the "price" was just too high to pay.

so:

3) The Saudi's need help too. Help to hang on to their throne and country. Once the current Saudi ruler dies the race for the throne is going to be a real clusyer f---, that's just within the Saudi Royal family. I doubt they would seriously look to the US for aid and comfort as the final "price" might just be too high to pay. Thus a Russia/Saudi "partenership" might be just the ticket to let the Bushies know they are not the only game in town.

meanwhile elsewhere:

4) Concerns grows regarding the sale/theft/dissappance of nuclear fuel. Every one is concerned that some body else may have "the bomb".
We built scads of bombs in order to keep the Soviet Union in check as that was the only thing they would supposedly understand. As I recall, it was Ramblin' Ronnie who called the Soviets the "evil empire". So now other countries are concerned about the need for "the bomb". Perhaps their concern is from a need to keep another "Evil Empire" in check until a stable government regains control.

and while all this is going on:

5) Where is Chimpy's NSA? The so called Russian/Soviet/Euroepean expert? It seems of late that the NSA is seldom seen and little heard. But of course, as was once mentioned here on DU, she claims to keep her opinions to herself. Perhaps the Rice is on simmer rather then boil. Or she has nothing left to sell.

Just some thoughts to share. Thanks for letting me ramble.

oh! one more thing:

6) What if the repukes don't run Chimpy? Who is it we have to beat then?

1. I have one more question if anyone knows the answer
If Junior does not run which I am starting to think may be a distinct possibility, what happens to his $200 million dollar election war chest? Does the Republican who replaces him get to use that cash?

2. Saudis Are Buying Putin to Allow Russian Troops Into Iraq With U.N.
Edited on Thu Sep-04-03 04:49 PM by David Zephyr
Isn't it obvious considering the timing?

Bush to Saudis: Help me with Putin to get Russia to make France the odd man out on the Security Council.

Am I the only one on earth to see this?

4. If Russian troops are sent to Iraq I'll eat my hat

Or...a 'hat cake'...

Putin is up for reelection soon. The Russian military is still tied up in Chechnya, and I really doubt they have any desire (or willingness, or capacity) to take on yet another occupation job.

I think the Saudi's signed with Russia as a counterweight to Bush/PNAC/US. I don't think things have been going well between Jr and the Fahds' (at least, not as well as when Sr was in charge).

If Putin DOESN'T get involved helping Bush in Iraq, he's probably a shoe-in to get reelected. If he DOES get involved, he does nothing but screw up his chances. He's been shooting a darned good game so far -- I don't see him messing it up by jumping into the mess Bush created in Iraq.

...And speaking of Condi Rice -- she was a 'Sovietologist', not a Russian expert, per se. That makes her expertise about as relevant as an archeologist's would be.
