GI threatens suicide over return to Iraq

I just came across this article...it's from Tuesday so not LBN. Didn't know if anyone heard about this. Makes my stomach turn into a knot. I wonder how many others feel this badly?

STRATFORD — A serviceman, apparently distraught over the prospect of being sent back to the war in Iraq, threatened to kill himself as he stood naked and screaming outside his house.

Police took the man into custody at his Fernwood Drive house. He was taken for treatment to Bridgeport Hospital.

After struggling with officers, the man told police that he was scheduled to be sent back to Iraq in January, but didn't want to because he would be forced to kill more people, police said.

The man, who said that he had been drinking, told officers that "he just wanted to die," police said.

1. War fucks people up

Humans are the only animals who wage organized battles against each other for esoteric goals (i.e., not survival, food, or mating rights). It is simply not natural. People have to be trained and prepared to kill people, it doesn't come naturally to most normal people. We have to essentially brainwash people into going into war, why should we be surprised when they come out fucked up?
