This atheist wishes to give a big shout out to the UCC!

The United Church of Christ, that is. Even if NBC and CBS won't air the church's ad, the UCC is still getting its message of inclusion out through the free publicity the networks' acts of censorship has given the church.

I only hope that more liberal and progressive Christians will do stuff like this! :yourock:

5. Proud daughter of former UCC minister
Never been more proud to be a Congregationalist! (UCC is a branch of Congregationalism, BTW.)

6. Actually Congregationalism is a branch of the UCC
The United Church of Christ was formed in 1957 when the Congregational Christian Church (think Mayflower, Pilgrims, Plymouth Rock) merged with the Evangelical and Reformed Church (think German non-Lutheral Protestants). Not all former Congregational churches joined the UCC, but many did. That's why you'll see many churches with names like "First Congregational United Church of Christ."

I was soooo glad to see this commercial today! True, NBC and CBS are too chicken shit to play the thing, but in the end it was a real COUP for the church itself. Instead of having to pay lots of $$$$$ for it to receive air play, they paid nothing and it was played EVERYWHERE today!

As the mom of a young man who is gay, I have to say, I am proud to be associated, even if only through the DU, with somebody who is with the church on this.

My kudos to the UCC on this!
