Freeper outreach program? |
|
I saw this idea posted in a thread a couple days ago. At the time it seemed to be a good idea, I admit I have my doubts. I suggested the author Post this but I see he/she didn't. They probably were showing better judgment than I am now.
The idea is this establish a site where opposite political sides can express opinions (maybe here on DU), sort of a Freeper Outreach Program.
I realize it would give Moderators fits and would require extraordinary protection and trust. Part of my motivation is that I have recently turned a person into the light. It might be fun but suspect it would be a nightmare to manage.
What do you think? How could it work?

1. Feel free to start a yahoo group, or something. |
|
There is absolutely no way that I would agree to having something like that here. Have you ever been to freeperland? Those people are bigotted, hatefilled maniacs. Thanks, but no thanks.

You would not believe the person I recently turned. Probably a bad unmanageable idea.

You could restrict them to one part of the site, but it would get messy...there are a lot of armchair/behind the keyboard warriors out there which makes for the flamewars....better to convince people in person.

would you trust them to police themselves sufficiently to restrict their ideological vomit to just one area of du?

But I would use "diarrhea" rather than "vomit". I'm sorry, but the kind that would come here would be unruly and ruin this site.

7. We should do this for the mandatory mental health screenings |
|
If we join forces we might stop it

8. That and Gun Control did it. |

The person(s) were shocked at the idea of Mental Health screening in schools.
They were equally aghast at the idea Bush would have signed an assault weapons ban if it crossed his desk.

I think that would be disasterous (although good in theory). Freepers are already here disrupting our threads. I would hate to think what would happen if we invited them.

11. Personally, I don't care for freepers |
|
If I wanted to know what they were saying, I'd go to their place.
