Associated Press
December 3, 2004

FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- A teacher had to stop a second-grader from jumping out a window, the second time the boy has tried to kill himself at the school in two months, police said.

When Fort Wayne Police went to Adams Elementary School just after 11:15 a.m. Tuesday, the boy was wrapped in a blanket. He was later taken to Parkview Hospital to be evaluated.

The incident began when the student took off his shoes, jumped from his desk and ran to a second-floor window, police said

"I'm going to jump out the window," he told the teacher. "You'll never see me again." He had trouble opening a window latch, and the teacher was able to grab and pull him down, police said.

With the teacher holding onto one of his legs, the boy used his free leg to kick her in the stomach, chest and ribs, police said. The teacher was able to hold on until the principal and security arrived. The extent of the teacher's injuries was not known.

...

Anyone wanna wager what sort of mood controlling cocktail this kid is on ??

you assume he is taking drugs...
however I know that my own son has had depressive episodes and yet he isn't on any medication, we are using therapy alone but sometimes I wonder if he may not need meds later.

4. I was depressed as a child due to family history, I tried suicide as
young as 2nd grade as well. Good thing it didn't work. I thought of suicide almost every day after that incident. Unfortunately, I didn't get help until I was in my 30's. I don't know how I made it. But did. Don't assume the kid was on medication. He may have the issues do to heredity, he may be sexually abused, he may be mentally and or physically abused as well.

Unfortunately for that kid the anti-depression meds now may do more harm for him than good. He's gonna need a lot of support from his family and friends until he is old enough to take the new SSRI anti-depressants.

I'm on Effexor and Lexapro and I thank GOD every day for them.

3. Can't diagnose the kid's problem
I don't have enough information as to what his life is about.

5. Our friend's son threatened suicide many times until he was removed from
those mood ALLEVIATORS.

I had been begging her to do it for years, and she finally had to read the articles for herself, and realize that in order to develop coping skills in life, the child would have to learn what real feelings are.

Amazingly, his grades are up, he's more confident and not quite so wierd.

He will always BE wierd, but he's a good kid and the bizarre sexualization of inanimate objects has stopped as well.
