The "Rapture Right"
the best frame I've heard for the new GOP Crazies.
Sam Seder just said it on AAR.

1. I wish it'd hurry up and get here.
The Rapture, that is. I've been hearing about from religious freaks since 2nd grade!

3. As I said before, I think of the Rapture like a factory recall.
Sent back because of defective souls. (The brain and heart are affected, too.)

7. Rapture Right
Well, I am offended by that statement--the Rapture Right.

I am not some crazy rightwinger. I do not agree with a lot of the policies of Republicans, obviously.

But I do believe in the Bible. And it clearly tells us that “We which are alive and remain shall be caught up.” (1 Thessalonians 4:17)

We have two options:

1. To be raptured up, and meet Christ in the air, OR

2. Be physically here on this Earth, when the 7 vials which contain God's rath are poured down on this earth.

12. can I have you car when you rapture?
did you think this thread was about you?

And which of the policies of Reputhugs do you AGREE with?

Here is a third option for you, live like Christ said and love your brothers (and sisters). The rapture is some religious voodoo cooked up by 19th century wingnuts. The support for the rapture in the bible is weak (your Thessalonians and verses from Daniel). Jesus never mentioned anything about any rapture. You'd think that he would be aware of it, no? Its just a way for the fundies to convince their flock that they are special and will be take off the earth before the really bad shit happens no matter how much they have fucked the place up.

It kills me when these religiou fundies believe every bit of hogwash the preacherman shovels out, right before he passes the collection plate. If you want to be a real Christian then live like Christ showed us, and read the bible for yourself. Your preacherman is filling your head with bullshit.

13. Sorry but that is hateful bullshit and unchristian to the highest degree.
The idea that god will sweep up all the people who say they believe in Christ and leave the others to die and suffer is sick and arrogant.

It also shows how out of touch with reality the person who promotes the idea is and gives a good indication the person is not of their right mind and most likely should not be trusted.

14. Doesn't Jesus' arms get tired flying in the clouds all day?
You'd think he'd at least be in orbit so he wouldn't have to do any work. But then again he'd have to do something to keep his eyeballs from exploding.

15. OK I will try.
Maybe you should read some objective human history about the end times cults through out history and what motivated them instead of just listening to people promoting the cult?

If all you have had to go on was this interpretation of one book in the NT then you are in the dark on the subject and operating on faith alone.

http://www.time.com/time/covers/1101020701/theology2.html
By 1865, those dreams lay in bloody ruins on Civil War battlefields. Far from a millennial peace, Evangelicals found themselves fighting their brothers in America's homemade taste of hell. Afterward, they felt helpless to alleviate the misery in fast-growing cities and threatened by the arrival of Catholic immigrants. As it did in ancient Israel, calamity demanded a rethinking of the End Times.

The man with the plan was an Anglican priest turned traveling evangelical preacher named John Nelson Darby, who arrived in the U.S. in 1862 for the first of seven visits, bearing a radical new eschatology. Darby and minister Cyrus Scofield, who would expand the evangelist's ideas in the vastly influential Scofield Reference Bible, divided God's relationship with man into seven ages (the current sixth began with the death of Christ). Their vision grimly upended the previous wisdom. Far from getting ever better, things on earth would progressively worsen, until the Antichrist, also known as the Beast, arose. A seven-year, hell-like Tribulation would begin, survived by only a small human remnant. Not until then would Christ return, defeat the Antichrist and commence his Millennium. Much of Darby's scriptural synthesis had been suggested piecemeal by earlier thinkers.

You should really try to get out of the death cult while you still can.
