I am determined to do something...
I have been working on the beginnings of a movement that will get people (including me) to quit complaining and to get out there and do something about the things that we're concerned about. I had been racking my brains trying to figure out what it is that I can do to get people to get organized and get some things accomplished. A few nights ago, I started a website to get it rolling but I wasn't satisfied with it and it's all been redone. If you all could give me some feedback I would really appreciate it. Please realize this is just in the beginning stages so there isn't as much content as I would like it to have. Eventually, I will be tracking every bill congress is working on and ways for us to get involved in those decisions. That's what government is designed for anyway, but people just don't get involved like they should. If you have any suggestions for any additional information I could add, let me know. Thank you in advance for your feedback!

(Please be forewarned: It is being hosted on a "free website hosting" service that innundates people with pop-ups and all of that junk. I apologize for that and I recommend that you use a good pop up stopper before going to check it out.)

1. Nice site and the bill summarization is a good idea
One idea I have would be that there be a section on your site which highlights actions being listed on other progressive sites. For example TomPaine.com has an area of actions which could be pursued, the latest of which being an action to help stop Pell Education Grants from being cut. Your blog could help spread the word. Your site could have an area highlighting available actions on other sites.

Just an idea.

I like your site and have it bookmarked.

2. Thanks Robbien.
I'll check out that site and add links from mine to some of those actions, too. That's a big part of the whole concept - to have a place where one can go to get all of the info on anything and everything they can do to implement changes. I appreciate the feedback and your advice.

6. My thoughts:
Let's put the party back in the Democratic party. Seriously.

We need a movement like they had in the sixties (i'm not saying recreate it exactly - we don't need all that love beads and dope shit again). We need to start a SOCIAL movement. A coming together of FRIENDS for community and fellowship. The reason the Sixties worked was because it was fun (among other reasons, of course).

Let's organize social events that are strictly partisan and yet so fun that non-political people can't stay away. I'm talking about things like arts events: free concerts, etc. There are thousands of bands looking for any sort of break that would be happy for the exposure. That's just one example.

I think fashion could be important as well. Anybody remember bellbottoms and long hair, headbands and the aforementioned love beads. Again, we don't need those, but a way to visually identify ourselves as dems that becomes the fashion would be a great help.

How about let's hear some ideas. What else could we do?

8. I like that.
Promotional events for Government involvement. It's funny how most people involved in the arts lean left anyway; it only makes sense to sponsor events. Most art gallery openings, fashion shows, concerts (with the exception of country music) are all gathering places for people who would benefit from having a voice in the Government. Now, more than ever, it seems people would take advantage of that.
