True Democracy world wide will be dangerous to the interests of the U.S.
Edited on Sun Dec-05-04 08:38 AM by KlatooBNikto
This is a truism that needs to be repeated often because it is almost an article of faith among our mainstream media that the U.S. is engaged in bringing Democracy and Freedom to the benighted lands of the world. Nothing can be farther from the truth.

If that was our goal, we would have urged the Saudi monarchy, the Kuwaiti Emirate and the other Gulf Emirates to open up their societies to full fledged Democracy. And if that was true, we would not move heaven and earth to undermine one of the true democrats in all of Latin America, Hugo Chavez.

Democracy means that the people get to make decisions that improve their lives with the resources available in a fair and equitable manner. It also means that the moneyed classes in their societies have little say in how the resources are allocated.

1. Why would BFEE want real democracy?
A real democracy would probably tell them all to Get The Fuck OUT!

Out of their country, out of their business, out of existence.

Don't want that, by crackee!

2. I think that holds up
historically. I used to labor under the false impression that America was much more altruistic and dedicated to spreading Democracy and Freedom everywhere.

Now, the points you have made are more obvious to people who are exposed to more information on the subject, like the book, Confessions of an Econmic Hitman.

Under the facade of altruistic intent and freedom-sharing, we see self-interest, greed, an corporate profit motivations. Add a few cups of dominance, (especially with the advent) and it's EMPIRE HO!

Imperialistic Fascism is an interesting combination. Neither has gone away, and both are on the rise. The media fashions a wonderful mask over the facts and the people succumb to the softly spoken magic spell.

3. We probably don't have worry about that. As long as we send
Diebold machines to these countries, we don't have to worry they pick someone we don't like.

4. True!....Look what happened in Haiti...
The Democratically elected leader was replaced by murderers and drug runners, thanks to the good 'ol USA. These recent events were all but buried in the "news".

America: The Big Lie!

5. I disagree.
Democracy is dangerous to the people in power in the US - not to the people of the US. If fact, I'm sure the people here would like a democracy they could believe in and would support the same for other countries.

Thwarting democracy is dangerous to the people of the US, but it's good for those in power.

(Of course if what you meant by "the interests of the US" was the interests of the people in power, ignore this post.)

8. Conservatives don't believe in Democracy.
To them, it's a bad word.

They love to remind you that "America isn't a Democracy, it's a republic." This is a fallacy, we are both a Democracy and a republic... one does not survive without the other.

Besides, it's harder to send soldiers overseas to die for "Truth, Justice and a republic."

9. You can't do that.
You need a half-starved underclass in order to maintain an underpaid work force.
