CBS News in Germany - "50 coming in per day?" |
|
I caught the tail end of a report where they were interviewing a doctor(?) who made the remark that they had 50 sick/wounded coming in per day. Since they were talking about war casualties, I'm assuming that he meant from outside the country. He also said that it had been that rate for about the past two months. Did anyone see the beginning of this interview?

2. I think he's talking about injured + sick |
|
I heard (not on CBS) we've had about 6,000 people leave Iraq for medical reasons, with about 1,000 combat wounded, and then about 5,000 for medical or psychiatric illness.

on what kinds of injuries we're talking about. If it includes heat related injuries (like heatstroke) it's not outrageous. I read on DU that it hit 135 degrees F in some parts of Iraq where US troops were. Even with proper hydration, that kind of heat is a killer.

4. Yeah, I saw him interviewed on ABC |

and he said about 50 wounded per day.
I wonder how many intentionally shoot themselves in the foot? (I don't mean to be disrespectful to military, but I've heard them mention it first.)
There have been nine suicides.

Aaron Brown talked about it -- how difficult it is to get numbers on wounded, etc. His guest said the military isn't that forthcoming about that informaiton, but that since this effort was paid for by the taxpayers, they have a right to know.
