tools that had plastic handles... Snap On hammers for one... and several "typically Stanley" screwdrivers.... and quite often, after sitting in the toolbox for months and years... the handles developed a powdery surface and some dissolved COMPLETELY.
I imagined this to be a bacteria or something of that sort... I am a HUGE advocate of "friendly bacteria" the kind found at the bottom of yogurt "hopefully" alive bacteria. Quite often these friendly bacteria can have an amazing effect on chronic digestive disorders... and that's a fact.
I also have dealt with some septic systems that were less than "happy"
I was so glad to find that a U.S. company specializes in this issue, and creates all sorts and types of "friendly bacteria" for these issues.... www.roebic.com
But to get to my main point... wouldn't it be cool if they would use the kind of bacteria that ate my hammer handles to break down plastics at landfills and at recycling centers rather than heat, melt and otherwise burn them into submission. Heck, for all I know, they probably do.. and that would be a good thing.... :)
