A Message To Fellow Liberals About Abortion (short)
Edited on Sun Dec-05-04 08:16 PM by Endangered Specie
Don't ever give up, or lose faith in, or lack pride in being "pro-choice".

and further more, don't let anyone tell you its hurting our party; for one I doubt that it is, and two, as Captain Picard would say, "If we're going to be damned, lets be damned for what we really are!".

I want you to remember that the part of the essence of being who we are is to support civil liberties and women's rights, and oppose sexism, eugenics, and privacy violation in all its forms.

To those who would say we should "give up" or "forget" on this issue, I will be glad to show them the door.

3. I'm with you.
What good is winning if we have to sell ourselves out. We don't have to vote against our own interest.

7. As a male person my position on abortion is this
males should shut up and let women decide and not inflict thier crappy sentiments and belief systems on women.A womens right to chose also is about who she choses to have sex with or not have sex with. Some of these knuckle dragging blow hards think because they are men they can force that on women too.

8. Not only that...I think most Republicans feel the same way
I think Democrats should start making an issue of this. Make the Republicans put up or shut up. Most Republicans would be horrified if they actually had to vote on abortion, up or down. They've fooled a lot of their constituents into believing that Republicans are against abortion. Ha!

When was Roe v Wade decided? During a Republican administration!

Who cast the deciding votes in favor? Republican-appointed justices!

During the eight years of Reagan, four of Poppy, and four-and-counting of little W, has any Republican administration lifted a finger to get rid of abortion?

NO!

They lie to people all the time about this and win elections with those lies. It's time to force the Republican Party to reveal themselves on this subject, and then it will go away as an issue.

9. Fun abortion fact
Remember the impressive and substantial drop in the violent crime rate that started in the 80s? No one could really figure out why and where the credit lay until the lightbulb dawned on some sociologist--it corresponds exactly to a generation after Roe v Wade. Imagine that. Giving people control over their lives, every child a wanted child, is good social policy.
