Why is the National Guard Hiring More Recruiters?
The National Guard has 2,400 recruiters on the job and is hiring 1,400 more to make up for the growing shortfall of goal. More than expected soldiers are not reenlisting. Why?

Conservatives tell us their vote for preemptive war was a mandate for bush. So why aren't these fine upstanding flag waving Americans flooding the recruiting offices? Is it because their patriotism ends once the bumper sticker is on? Their actions during the campaign were obviously false bravado by cowardly chickenhawks. Their current actions speak louder than any campaign slogan. I'll let others die for what I voted for - new conservative slogan.

1. Why the recruiting stations
aren't overflowing with locked and loaded Repub flag wavers is a wonder. The Support Our Troops is just an empty slogan to these people. I've heard the yellow ribbon sporting types say that anyone who has a disabled veteran or purple heart license tag is only looking for sympathy. Yeah, the love the troops.

2. Two kinds of ribbons
Where I live, there are actualy two different kinds of "We Support Our Troops" ribbons. One is the yellow colored and the other is red, white, and blue. My guess is that the yellow ones mean we support our troops by bringing them home. The red, white, and blue ones are the rah, rah, rah, let's bomb the hell out of Iraq (* supporters).

3. It's a last-ditch effort before they reinstitute the traditional draft
Sending National Guard troops overseas is a type of draft in my book.
And we're all familiar with the backdoor draft.

NOW, National Guard prospects are being told "there's a good chance" they'll be shipped over to Iraq. Funny not everyone is jumping for the opportunity to serve.

The best marketing tool for the NG should be the lists of registered Republicans who supported this war. Why aren't they going after them?

4. Hiring more recruiters?
Is this a civilian job? 'Recruiter; National Guard." $5.50 an hour and no benefits?
