New credit card for Jews won't work on Sabbath
http://msnbc.msn.com/id/6660239/
Israeli bank, ultra-orthodox leaders say card can protect holy day

TEL AVIV, Israel - All over the globe the weekend is the busiest time for shopping.

Consumer life in Israel is no different, despite the religious observance of the holy day of Sabbath from sundown on Friday until sundown on Saturday. For example, the biggest revenue day at the Shfaim shopping center, just 15 miles north of Tel-Aviv, is on Saturday

However for Jews who strictly observe the Sabbath — the holy day of rest, according to the Jewish religion — shopping and any other form of entertainment is forbidden. Moreover, ultra-orthodox Jews are even stricter and will boycott shops and restaurants that operate on Saturdays.

5. Hey I think I'll get that
Just think of the money you would save if your credit card didn't work on Saturday?

what makes me laugh (sorry!) is that it's a CREDIT CARD, and they don't wanna break Sabbath law by using it on Sundays...

whatever.

and it's not like the original (dang! beat again) poster put it in the breaking news, back off! Got you to come in and read the story didn't it?
