Gun control?

Wishy washy.

Abortion?

Wishy washy.

Gay Marriage?

Wishy washy.

War in Iraq?

Wishy washy.

No fucking wonder we lost. We played both ends against the middle.

7. haha... it is. And the answer is No.
It's seeing an explanation as more valuable than a 2 second sound byte.

Positive - well made statements cannot be as easily misinterpreted.
Negative - almost every statement is not well made.

Should we reduce everything ad absurdium?

9. No... Just say things as they are.
That usually doesn't take that long.

Every damn Dem out there plays to what they believe is the populace without regard to what they believe.

Honesty would be such a wonderful reprieve from the hell we're in now.

11. Hmm. Agreed. "Call a spade a spade"
I don't think I've ever heard a Dem use the word "liar" to describe he-who-must-not-be-named.

There are too many here who want to cow-tow to the special interests who do nothing more than make a lot of noise.

3. Yes. No. I mean Maybe.
This is a nuanced answer but I stick to my beliefs.

So No. I mean Yes but No and possibly Maybe.

This is probably too complicated for the average voter...

8. Happy to oblige:
Gun Control: Drop it, adopt an RKBA stance in the Party platform.

Abortion: Pro-choice - across the board.

Gay Marriage: Support rights for all.

War in Iraq: Get OUT as soon as possible.

How's that for "wishy washy"?

"i'm against gay marriage, but for civil unions"

IMO, most dem politicians are lying when they say that. I understand why they do it, but it still pisses me off...

18. If they are afraid to take a stand...
...we need to get rid of them.

Here's some Democrats that will take a stand.

Progressive Democrats Stand on Iraq!

Here is what PDA believes and what we believe needs be said.

The invasion was illegal under both the UN Charter and the US Constitution.

It was unprovoked, unwarranted, unjustified, and unnecessary.

It is obscenely expensive at a time when non-military government programs are starved for resources.

It is based on distortions and deceptions and falsehoods -- not by accident, but by design.

That the costs incurred by the US are borne disproportionately by the poor and underprivileged.

That it was not motivated by a quest for phantom Iraqi weapons of mass destruction, but by the Bush Administration's determination to control Iraqi oil, to provide vast opportunities for war profiteering by American corporations, and to build 14 new American military bases in Iraq which it intends to keep there for decades to come.

That the Iraqi people deserve reparations for the harm we have inflicted on their population, their country and their national soul.

That a way must immediately be found to get the UN in and the US out of Iraq--and to leave behind the possibility of a true Iraqi democracy, with full Iraqi control over their own national resources, the rebuilding of their own country, and with genuine Iraqi self-determination.

That the Democratic Party should stand enthusiastically behind an American commitment to a strong and vibrant United Nations, which, while far from perfect, is the best vehicle we have at this moment in history to assemble the collective conscience of the human community.

That our country must commit without exception to abide by the world rule of law. If we disregard the law of nations we're left with the law of the jungle, where the only constraint on violence is the power and ruthlessness of those who would employ it. Rest assured, in that world, we won't be the only ones to employ it.

That George Bush's foreign policies--of which the Iraq war is the central manifestation--have made us new foreign enemies. That George Bush's defense policies have weakened our defenses. That George Bush's responses to 9/11 have made future 9/11's far more likely to occur. So much for Republicans being "strong on defense."

These are the truths about Iraq we hold as Progressive Democrats of America.

I'm lining up with the Dems that are taking a stand!

20. DU isn't even consistent
How many gun control and abortion threads do we get around here? Civil unions or gay marriage? Will bringing the troops home now leave Iraq in disaster and civil war, or allow them to govern themselves?

Democrats are willing to discuss the variables in any issue, which always pisses off somebody. Republicans sling slogans and what they do doesn't even have to match what they say, much easier for their faithful followers.

22. I think that's because the Repugs can't fathom more than one thought at
a time.

Muchless comprehend non-linear thought.

They can't accept the least bit of dissention.

It's in a museum now.

Iraq? we should have been gone yesterday. We are not winning, and there will be civil war no matter what. The only question is how many of our people die before that happens.

Gay Marriage? I am for it.

Abortion? Safe, legal, and rare. Economic policies reduce the number of abortions, not outlawing it.

Environment? I am for preserving it, but regulations must be economically efficient, as far as possible.

Death Penalty? Against it.

Marijuana? Legalize, regulate, and tax it.

Education? Our only defense against outsourcing. Enact Kerry's plan to raise teacher pay while making it easier to fire the bad ones.

Universal Healthcare? For it. cover everyone for the same price as the current scheme.

Missile Defense? Get rid of it. Doesn't work, and pisses other countries off in the bargain.

Separation of Church and State? in favor of it, naturally.

Gun Control? Right to bear arms is in the constitution. The bill of rights is a good thing, all things considered. common sense measures such as background checks, trigger locks, etc.

physician assisted suicide? for it.

corporate welfare? end it.
