Red States (one of which I live in) like to say how they give to charity more than blue states. But where does their charity go? According to the DEC Issue of Money Magazine 35.9% of charitable giving by Americans in 2003 went to "Religion." So red state givers are providing housing, salary and jobs to preachers who in turn tell them how to think and vote. The total charitable giving to environment, animals, societal benefit, arts and culture, human services and health total 29.8% of total. Of course, that number would rise considerably if less were given to maintaining klaverns disguised as churchs in the south which breed hate towards other citizens. Quite charitable huh? Keep that in mind the next time a conservative spouts off about how charitable they are.
