I love that there is a great transit system here. I love the weather. I love the views. I love that there is a Japanese-English bilingual public school for my son to attend. I love that there is a Japanese-English bilingual subsidized day care for my other son.
And I love that in the principal's office of my son's school, on the cork-board, there is a photo of Bush with the eyes scratched out and a Hitler mustache colored on.
I love that at a junior high school I visited, there were posters made by the kids all over the place urging tolerance for people of very ethnicity and gender identity. And in one classroom, there was a bumper sticker on the wall "Defend America, Defeat Bush".
I love that I can talk left-wing politics and have people not only not disagree with me, but they also are aware of the info I bring up, so I don't have to bring them up to speed on something as fundamental as the definition of "black box voting", and I don't have to explain to them WHY it's wrong for the US to detain US citizens indefinitely without charges.
I think that's the must annoying thing about other parts of the country. It's not the right-wing thinking, it's the utter ignorance and absolute reliance on TV to provide news (which of course it does not do).

never been more proud to not only call myself a californian but that I am a resident of San Francisco!
It may be pricey as hell, but after that last election, I think it just might be worth it!

our inter-county transit sucks. We should take a page from NYC and incorporate SF, SM, southern Marin and Western CC counties into a new multi-county city.
And while I'm dreaming, can I dream for 18 faithless electors?

And I'm not just saying that as an NYC native... the subways go everywhere, even effing Rockaway! The buses and trains run 24/7. Is there still the bulk discount for MetroCards?

I wish it was that way, or at least a reasonable facsimile, in every town-big sigh. Thanks! :hi:
