7. Citgo is a special case
I'm not sure if they gave money to Republicans ever, but Citgo is the Venezuelans oil company (if I'm not mistaken) and you have to have solidarity for them after Bush tried to overthrow their democratically elected president, Hugo Chavez.

9. I'm not comfortable relying on recommendations from an affiliate site.
Even though they say it doesn't affect their ratings.

11. Not an affiliate site
We're not an affiliate site. The Project Blue Christmas site has some sponsored links - I think exactly six out of over one hundred. The main site - Cobb24.com - has 3,800 brand listings and no sponsored links. I doubt those six or so, with 5% commissions paid sometime in January, will even cover one day of server bandwidth. The only reason sponsor links are being used is a) the company passed the contributions test (those numbers you can check very easily at opensecrets.org and other sites) and b) they have a sponsor program that accepts political sites, and it helps pay for my hosting bill.

Regarding Citgo. The facts just aren't there to support a "buy" or "don't buy" for me. The numbers stand, but I won't be going there...

ChooseTheBlue tells you what corporations donated to political parties.

If each American who voted for John Kerry spends $100 in 2005 on a Blue company instead of a Red company, we can move $5 Billion away from Republican companies and add $5 Billion to the income of companies who donate to Democrats.

This will be noticed! Choose where you buy ... and make a difference!!!

Our movement is not one campaign, or even one election cycle. It is a long-term program of building Democratic strength from the ground up. And this first year of ActBlue's operation has given us many reasons for hope: people used ActBlue to contribute over $850,000 to 150 Democratic candidates in races across the country. Because of you, first time voters registered and got to the polls; volunteers and donors upped their commitments to the cause; and the Democratic message of hope and a better future reached more people than it could have without your help.
