Poll question: The DLC has called Michael Moore "anti-American"
Edited on Wed Dec-08-04 01:36 PM by UdoKier
The DLC has called Michael Moore "anti-American"

http://www.nypress.com/17/48/news&columns/taibbi.cfm

Exactly what is it Moore has done that makes him "anti-American" in their judgment?

And why does the DLC consider these activities to be "anti-American"?

2. WE know how this poll is going to end up. What is the real deal...
Let's talk positively about Michael Moore and about what he's done. Let's not box in the conversation and talk about it on the context of what the DLC says.

I think we'll get more miles out of cheering MM than jeering the DLC in reference to him.

Just a thought.

12. Here's one excerpt
http://www.nypress.com/17/48/news&columns/taibbi.cfm

We've got to repudiate, you know, the most strident and insulting anti-American voices out there sometimes on our party's left... We can't have our party identified by Michael Moore and Hollywood as our cultural values.

—Al From,
CEO, Democratic Leadership Council

You know, let's let Hollywood and the Cannes Film Festival fawn all over Michael Moore. We ought to make it pretty clear that he sure doesn't speak for us when it comes to standing up for our country.

—Will Marshall, President of the Progressive Policy Institute, the think-tank of the DLC

5. The only thing they have on him
Are some of his comments when he was doing his one person show in England. The commants were kind of bad, and they throw in that he said them in a foreign land, and . . . well they can paint a picture.

A distorted BS picture, to be sure.

I don't know why the DLC is calling attention to Michael Moore right now--who are they trying to impress?

26. Because its time for the DLC to make it's quadreniall shift to the right
And God forbid, they have a man who is a very public voice of conscience and the Democratic base calling them on it. Thus the demonization of the left begins again. Even though MM and the left put aside our differences with the party to get Bush out, even though we donated money, blood sweat and tears, this is the thanks we're getting for that effort.

Never again, the Democratic party can go rot in Hell, I'm not going to support them. They are now officially part of the problem, and are unworthy of support from myself or anyone else who truly believes in the values of the left. If the Democratic party wants my help again, then get rid of From, the DLC and the rest of these damned New Democrats, and then I will consider it. Until then, the DLC, the Democratic party, and it's synchophatic New Dem followers can go shove it.

14. Yeah. In 2000.
In 2004, he was going all over the country, urging people to vote for John Kerry.

In short, he did more in 2004 than the majority of DUers put together, I would bet.

Not that I think Kerry was that terrible a candidate, but I think he ran a terrible campaign.

As far as Michael, I love the guy for what he did in his books and movies, but I think he should've taken a back seat during the campaign and pretty much stayed out of the limelight. Writing books and making documentaries is where he's most valuable. By putting himself into the spotlight so much during the campaign, I think it came off the wrong way to many voters. I think he was counterproductive to the people he was trying to help the most.

BTW, if Moore is anti-American, then many of us are.

22. Could you imagine a F911 type documentary of the DLC?
Remember the scene from F911 where he shows the black caucus getting rebuffed because they didn't have the support of a Senator. Imagine 2 hours of slamming the right-wing of the Democratic party for its compromising nature

was considered McCarthyist and therefore bad?

It still is, but it's lost an awful lot of shock value.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! The DLC can't have someone like THAT calling the shots!

I think it's just distancing. The DLC thinks Moore has too negative an image with the voters they want to sway (rural middlin folk).

25. I just emailed www.ndol.org the following. Anyone want to follow?
What planet are you guys living on to call Michael Moore "Anti-America"? Your CEO has his head so far up his ass he isn’t seeing the real world. That Moore was able to galvanize and motivate millions of Americas to vote. A number, which I suspect, exceeds your support by a factor of 100. Your "Council" is a dinosaur. And we all know what happened to them. Wake up and smell reality.

29. Yeah and when are they going to call
Republicans that supress the vote "unamerican". If there is anything more anti-American then I'd like to know what it is.

I don't agree with everything Moore does or says. But free speech is the essence. He is as American as they come. I suppose Rush Limbaugh is too. If there are instances where Limbaugh is inciting violence, well that's another matter. (I despise him and he seems to be doing that on occasion)

It's not about pissing off the opponent, DLC. It's not about appeasing them either. It's about a free expression of all ideas. Get it?

And Christ o'mighty! Hollywood? Have these idiots ever heard of Ronald Reagan and Mr. Govenator?

It's good to know we are our own cheese eating surrender monkeys. I think I respect France now more than ever. America has lost its mind.

32. The Footage Of Bush's Deer-In-The-Headlights Look
in that Florida classroom during 9-11 was a rare gift that Moore gave the Democrats on a silver platter. It would have shattered ANY myth that Dumbya was any type of leader during that crisis.

But no, they chose to ignore it and when they lose (again) they act like the cons they are supposed to be opposed to and blame a common target.

Boy I sure hope Moore isn't going to be the new Nader of this election.

But just keep on blaming Mike Moore, and any other convient target, INSTEAD OF GETTING WITH THE PROGRAM!
