Will the Pentagon punish those soldiers who dared to question Rumsfeld? |
|
I cannot help but think that the Penatgon neo-cons will blacklist them or give them some kind of a suicide assignment. Somehow I think these guys are going to come home in a bag in a few months to "send a message".

1. I was wondering that too |
|
Pretty sad that the first thought is "they are gonna get nailed for speaking the truth."

2. I would say its the exact opposite |

These guys are all about "being right." When Rummy said that they will be taken care of, and then they come back in a body bag, that will undoubtedly call attention to the fact that the war really is a disaster. If they come home safe, it is a big "I told you so, everything is great over there and you didn't have any problems, just like we said."

4. Well, based on the cheers, I think he'll be a hero to the troops |
|
But I wouldn't be surprised if Rummy puts him in a position where he'll be killed quickly. You just don't cross psychos like Rummy.

can keep track of these guys so we can tell the world if they are punished?
From the cheers from their fellow soliders, I think Rummy should think twice about doing something to them and then coming back to visit the troops.

I feel fairly confident that there as been some "Speaking To" going on. They have probably heard the "making the boss look good lecture" and the "team player" litany right before they were sent to latrine duty.

I'm sure there's a few right-wing soldiers who'll give him enough shit over it. Or maybe they won't since they all know they voted Republican to get pay raises and job safety, not intelligent executive leadership.

8. The questions and answers |
|
should be copied by those who care about the lives of the American soldiers, and copies of them sent to every senator and representative and other heads of state. Each person doing so should say that they, too, are asking the questions and are not pleased with the answers given by Rumsfeld and representing this administration. It is doubtful that he expected an intelligent question since he seemed to think that they could swallow his un-rehearsed stupid answers.

9. What the Hell are the questions and answers? |
|
I keep asking and not finding out...were there more questions from other soldiers, or just the one guy? Rummy's nonanswers tell a lot.

10. I don't know. Having grown up in the military, my first guess would |
|
be "there will be consequences." But further, we have a platoon that refused a direct order to deliver tainted fuel to a front line. Then we have a Petty Officer that refuses to board his ship to take soldiers to die in an illegal war. Now the troops openly question Secretary Rumferato before the press.
Add that to the fact that Generals who were well regarded by the troops are fired for trying to speak the truth and protect the troops under their command by a Commander in Chief who was too drunk or doped to roll his ass out of his bunk and report, but ridiculed an opponent who did serve, for what, serving.
The military of my youth was very insular, very protective of self. This is not normal.
There maybe a little angst in Washington about the troops.
What happens if the Legions revolt? Decimation is not an American military option.
