Tired of hearing the word "liberal" used as a cultural slur? So are we.

We know, we know. There really doesn't seem to be much here. We just got started on November 21st, and our website is a little, well, rudimentary at the moment. But we add something new several times a week. Give us a little time. We'll get there.

Here's some of what we plan to add: a community forum to discuss strategies for reclaiming the word "liberal" and liberal values in our political and cultural discourse, how those efforts are going, liberal politics, ideas, and events, and whatever else the members can come up with to discuss; a webstore where you can buy liberal labels such as lapel pins, t-shirts, and tote bags; and a liberal bookstore, including reviews and reader's guides.

I don't have mine yet, but I hear they look sharp. Let your neighbors know that liberals are just like them. Label yourself liberal.

Great leaders, but we live in progressive times, and that calls for progressive values. So label me a Progressive.

I think the times call for us to reclaim liberal and its honorable meaning from the smear campaign of the right. I also use progressive, but I'm not running away from liberal.

And FDR is still considered to be the best president of the century, by all Americans. JFK is #2.
