Great Buzzflash article
If you have a nagging suspicion about where we are headed as a country, read this article.

<http://www.buzzflash.com/interviews/04/12/int04060.html>

There are some interesting insights in this article. One that occurs to me is that by the year 2014, most gays have left the United States. It got me thinking that the GLBT community might just be the "canary in the coalmine" for democracy. Why? Because the community is an easy target for the right wing.

Anyway, enjoy the article.

3. So are many straights
(like Mrs. TOJ and I). This democracy is in a death spiral.

4. We should just divorce now...divide the country 70-30.
No one would have to move.

30% is the true hard core base of the Republican Party. They could continue to allow all kinds of rapture reverends to interpret the bible, declare that war is glorious, send their children to their own wars, and rewrite their constitution any way they want.

The 70% can keep our constitution and improve on it in practice, find peace with its original inhabitants, allow it to be lived to its potential dreamed of by its immigrants. We can work with others around the world for peaceful exchanges, peaceful commerce, peaceful protection of the earth (if not too late).

We were born to rise to the highest potential related to the universe of our soul - not to be skewered, hanged, stoned, bombed, robbed. By our neighbors.

6. I don't advocate leaving
I am only suggesting that watching the disenfranchised leave is a clear warning that democracy itself is in grave danger.

7. I know, I understand. It's just that I was one of those people whose
first response was "I'm Leaving" "I can't be a part of Jesusland" "I can't be here" but of course, like most of us, I have come to my senses and know that this is OUR country and WE ARE taking it back. We don't have to leave.
So actually, I guess I wasn't commenting on the article but cheerleading the Stay and fight movement. :-)
