Support the troops! Has the "support the troops" yellers given back
the tax cuts they got so the troops can buy body armor and take care of their families that are left behind. Ask a person today who has the sticker on their vehicle or one who repeats this mantra if they have they given back their tax cuts to help support the troops?

2. Well the'd probably respond with
something about Clinton gutting the military and / or if we didn't give so much money to those who don't deserve it (i.e. welfare), we'd have plenty to support the troops with too.

I've had this technique used on me incidently. A rightie suggested that if I took any deductions I was a hypocrite on the theory that "Hey you support all these programs, don't you? If you don't pay extra for them, you are a hypocrite."

3. I quoted the Preamble in response to a similar rightwinger argument
In addition to providing for the common defense, we (through our government) are supposed to promote the general welfare of our citizenry.

He just looked at me with a blank grin, just like he did when I took his tax-cut argument to the extreme by asking him if he wants to do away with all government services and, say, put the responsibility for street repair on people living on the street needing repair.

4. I call them "guilt ribbons"...
I think these people put these on their cars so that don't have to feel quilty about this war. They can ignore all of the bad news, or just not watch at all, by showing everyone that they have a yellow ribbon sticker on their SUV.

It's a sad fucked up country when people will blindly support a war like this one.
