So my friend is going to Ukraine for the election |
|
My friend is Ukranian, born in the US. Speaks fluent Ukie, and follows events in Ukraine closely. She feels very strong about the recent events, and when the decision was made to have new elections, without hesitation she volunteered to go and monitor the elections.
She found a sponsor who would pay for her ticket, and the rest of us (her friends) are throwing together some cash. I'm giving her my camcorder, and someone else is giving her a digital camera, as she needs all that. She's off on Dec.20th, for 1 week of training in Kiev, and then will be placed somewhere in the country for the elections on Dec.27th.
I must say, I'm very impressed. I said 'I know you Ukies have a problem with us Ruskies, but the day before you leave, we're drinking like we're all Russian!'

The reports I've seen said Dec 26th. It's fairly vital that she gets the right day ...
